IMO, there isn't no QB this year is worth taking #1. Top 10 sure, top 5 probably, but not 1. And I'll take Mallett over Luck, he's actually played good defenses and done well, unlike Luck who let that horrific Oregon defense shutout Stanford in the 2nd half.

again, you are on an island that no one wants to be near this year. enjoy your solitude. there is a reason for the luck bandwagon being so big. it's your own fault if you can't see it.

2 things regarding that $50mil. 1) JR pays for talent. you're wrong about him not paying that. he would. it's not like that would all have to be paid at once. don't confuse this year's lack of shelling out the cash for his record of paying for talent. 2) rookie cap will very likely be in place so your concern won't matter.

Someone has to pick somebody at #1. If Luck comes out, he's the obvious #1. If not, it's easy to say trade down. But if no one feels there is a pick worthy of #1, then no one will want to trade up. If Fairley and Green are a stretch for us, then they are a stretch for everyone. Someone has to go #1. If they are all a stretch, then take the closest. I'd say that has to be Fairley. He dominated the Alabama front line, which is really saying something.

Well, I'm hoping hard we sign a few starting DTs in free agency. Then if Luck doesn't declare for whatever reason, Daquan Bowers would be a solid choice. He's got the tools, plus the production, and elite DEs are worth taking number one overall. Unless you're that guy that thinks that having pass rushers in abundance is a bad thing and that they don't make average CBs look like Patrick Peterson.

If Luck doesn't come out or if he does and we don't get the #1 pick I hope we get AJ Green. I don't think trading down will be an option if Luck doesn't come out. Theres not much of a difference between all the prospects besides Luck for every AJ Green you have a Julio Jones, Dareus and Fairley, Peterson and Prince theres just no reason to trade up especially when its such a deep draft.

I hope we get Green if Luck doesn't come out if we got Peterson instead of Green I wouldn't complain but I want Green. For as much talent as Newton has I jsut think theres a much better chance he bombs out then there is he actually reaches that talent. Once that kid gets 30+ million in his hands I don't see him putting in near the effort it takes to be a great QB.

Hopefully Green in the first, DT in the third and we bring in some starting caliber backup OL, starting caliber DT and a good secondary player via FA. I also would like us to get McNabb if we can. For as bad as we are this year if we are taking Green #1 combined with Smith getting his poo together, talented rookies in Gettis and Lafell, a very very strong running game and a very talented OL although they underperformed this year would be an attractive situation for McNabb. If we got Donovan we could let Clausen sit and then we can chose to go with him long term or draft a QB next year when guys like Barkley, Gabbert, Luck if he stays are due to come out who I like much more then this crop.

QB - McNabb, Clausen, Pike

RB - Williams, Stewart, Goodson, Sutton, Fiammetta (could see us trading one fo them for picks or a DT)

WR - Smith, Green, Gettis, Lafell

TE - King, Rosario, Barnidge

OL - Gross, Wharton, Kalil, teh Dude, Otah

DE - Johnson, Hardy, Brown, Brayton

DT - Whoever new coach wants to have stick around + FA and 3rd round pick

LB - Anderson, Beason, Davis, Connor, Norwood

CB - Gamble, Munnerlyn, FA

S - Martin, Godfrey

Thats a pretty damn talented roster if you ask me, bring in a coach with a clue who perhaps runs a WCO or has a coordinator that does to better fit McNabb/Clausen and we could actually be an NFL caliber team again.

I am a big Auburn fan and I think high of Nick Fairley however, this year he is not worth a 1st overall draft pick on the sole reason of Ndamukong Suh being taken number one overall last year. People have their sights so high now for DT's like Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Tyson Alualu, Dan Williams, Lamarr Houston, Earl Mitchell, and Corey Peters that it's hard to judge what a good DT even looks like anymore.

Nonetheless, I would take Fairley at 5th overall if we were able to trade down to that spot and nab him.

Tackle and Sack Machine

Gets his hands up when he knows he can't get the sack

Shows up in the biggest games

CONS

Somewhat small in weight

Needs to work on his tackling mechanics (A lot of his sacks would probably get called unnecessary roughness in the NFL)

May need motivation to play in games deemed not as important.
