Notebook: Panthers' Johnson adds 2 sacks to career-best total

That puts him 5th in the league with the rest of the league still to play.

He's got a shot at finishing 2nd in the league total though, which would be incredible.

(Leader is Cameron Wake with 14, which I suppose isn't too far out of CJ's sights..but it'd be a heck of a performance by him next week and with Wake, along with everyone else struggling)

This is my biggest fear. If we pay him I feel like he's just going to be a flop until his next contract year.

This is the first time hes been a full time DE. Hes always pushed his side and created pressure when he was in...KNOW YOUR TEAM!

This is Marshall, Deangelo, Kalils contract years too...not so good AL.

Marshall's not even a decent player and we're stacked at RB.

Isn't Thomas Davis and Matt Moore also in contract years? I bet we lose a lot of players, doubt any coach wants a bunch of Fox guys.

Marshall is above average and we need three solid corners AT LEAST. A huge reason we were going destroyed through the air last night is because Robert McClain was our 3rd corner and was getting straight abused. Munnerlyn and Marshall held it down for the most part, but the Steelers completely exploited McClain. If Gamble had been out there, we could have had Munnerlyn and Marshall as the #2 and #3 and that wouldn't have happened. If Marshall leaves, we have Gamble and Munnerlyn starting and...McClain as our 3rd to continue getting abused. We add CB to our long list of needs if we let Marshall go. Not smart.

However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup.
