What JR needs to do

Lumps

Recommended Posts

You've apologized to your PSL owners because this season turned out very bad, and not just bad as expected...but what you really need to do Jerry...is apologize to your players. Don't worry about admitting to what you tried to get away with this year, no one is fooled anymore.

That is really the only thing I can think of that would help me start to forgive JR for the poo he has dragged us all through this year.

I understand he watches this team as a product, as a business man and not as a fan. But he needs to realize all his support comes from people who are not like him. They are fans of the team and don't watch from a 'consumer/product' prospective (obviously or we wouldn't still be here with a product that gives results like this).

This is the only respectable thing he can do at this point.

He gambled, he lost.

I'm fine with what's been said already.

I agree. I really do believe that he thought about it and figured that we would go something like 6-10 or 7-9 and that by cleaning house early he could start the rebuilding process and save money for the future at the same time. The season just went haywire. There's no chemistry, or offensive play calling has been ass and we've just all together been bad. We've all made a educated decision that didn't work out before...his was just played out in front of the whole country and could potentially cost him millions.

If anything I think he should have a players meeting after the season and let the players know what he plans to do in the future to fix it, if he hasn't already.

I put the blame more on Fox than JR. I can't blame JR for going cheap and challenging Fox to deliver. He's gone 7-9 every other year it was time to put up or shut up. However we could have brought guys in and not have broken the bank. This team was capable of winning. The problem was that our OC is a moron and Fox let him be a moron and put our QB's in terrible situations, setting them up to fail. To top that off Fox does not adjust the game plan. Then Otah gets hurt and our o-line never recovers. TD gets hurt, then Conner, yadayada yada.

JR did not go cheap....he went young. He knew Foxy was not a great coach....his mistake was thinking he was a good coach.

Young means nothing different in the NFL business world than being cheap, they are the same. But, I do see what you guys are saying most definitely, but if I were a player and see JR apologizing to PSL owners I would feel a little insulted. You can apologize to the fans for seeing this horrible display but don't address the players? Since this is a business and there are always more than one side to a business, what would be the player's version of 'going young/cheap'? Basically refusing to play...and I believe some players on the team this year did just that.

I am not saying he should publicly flap his lips like he did with the PSL owners but more of what Aggie said, he needs to personally address the team. He could have done this already hard to tell.

Hey JOAT will you loan me a grand so I can go gamble? If I lose, don't worry I'll apologize and I promise it will be at least a 60 second apology. JR gambled, but not so much with his money. In fact he preserved his money in the process.

If JR wants to live up to his 'class' level that some people, for some reason give him, he should apologize.

I don't think Fox or Davidson are to blame. Yes they suck, but who keeps them here? It's really a time period type thing. After so much time the blame must go further up.

It's just so hard seeing my team like this. Honestly, I would much rather the players get that apology than the PSL owners.

See that is where you get confused Davidson. Some players don't play just for the money. Not everyone approaches this game like a business man, such as JR (like I already stated). The apology would be something like "I did not do everything I could this year to ensure a winning season". But its hard to put words in his mouth since we don't really know what is going on. If JR found a way to say "Sorry fans I took your money and the season was worse than just bad so I am sorry", I think he can find a way to get the message to the players.

The PSL owners paid full price for tickets. They took these tickets and used them for their purpose. They saw a game, they saw their team play. That's what they paid for isn't it? Sure is. So why then do they get an apology? They got what they paid for didn't they?

That's where I am coming from.

Say what you want, but I think its crazy to apologize to the players. Sure, some do it for more than just the money, but they still get paid. They were the ones on the field, and they were the ones that didn't make the plays. They weren't good enough to win much. If anything, the players should be the ones apologizing. And as I implied, the problems were the players we had. Basically he would be apologizing for not firing some of them and hiring other, better players. That actually seems somewhat cruel.

Fwiw though, I don't care about apologies. Just get better.

Fox's last home game said a lot for Fox in terms of being a coach that can get guy's motivated. Unfortunately I just don't think he's a very good teacher. Offensively he wasn't, that's for sure. I hope we're able to retain our high quality of defense under the next regime and finally able to add a much needed upgrade to the offense.

I think he'll have a job, and he'll find success because he'll never have a season where something like this happens again. He's shown to be an 8-8 coach and in some places that's enough. In other places, they'll look more at his ability to get player's to continue to respond to and respect him.
