BPA: Too Much Value to Trade Down

Your Pick at 8

  1. 1. If a trade down offer is not attractive enough to accept, which player that REALISTICALLY should be available at 8 is such a compelling value (clear BPA) that you would select?

I could be completely wrong but I would take Walker over Graham.  It’s not really a need issue.  Walker just seems like he has a higher ceiling.   And with no real safe picks why not take a shot on a guy like Walker?

Walker has a lot to like.  I'm still unsure if he is 'tweener' or an every down player.

For true BPA at 8, not need but BPA, I've come around to thinking that Will Campbell (OT) represents the best player available.  Flame away.

After Carter and Hunter there are about 20 other players that could be bpa. It just a matter of team need/preference.

Yea I’m not in love with any of the guys to be honest.  Not a great class to be picking 8th overall unfortunately.  It would be better to have several 2nd round picks.

I think you just have to decide on who you really want out of the day 1 players regardless of where there are slotted to go and just take them when you are on the clock.

No disagreement with you.  The poll is me exploring the possibility that we do not get an acceptable trade down offer and have to make a choice at 8 so, who is a true BPA, not a need pick.

I would be fine with Campbell or Membou at 8. Better than reaching for an end.

The problem with saying bpa is who's bpa are you talking about? The term bpa is always in the eyes of the beholder. When I look at all the projected day 1 selections I see 2 that stand out. The next guy could go 4 or as far down as 32. It's that wide open the way I see it. If you want my honest opinion Cam Ward is a day 2 qb and is lucky he's the best of the group.

Okay, throw away the poll list.  You're the Panthers GM and we're on the clock; Emannwori is available.  Would you pick him at 8?

To be honest it's probably Jeanty.

Is he worth it? Maybe. I know the team is seriously interested in him or they wouldn't have met with him 3 times. He's the best safety in this draft and 1 of only 2 safties that are day 1 worthy picks.

The way I see it is that the team has the option of taking a player at a position that is a huge value to draft. That's edge, tackle, qb or wide receiver. Ask yourself who in this class of day 1 picks could benefit the Panthers the most to draft.

Now look at the visits and see what positions they have put the most time in day 1 players. Two things stand out to me. They are focusing on defense and it's OLB and a safety. I think it comes down to 3 players and they are Walker, Stewart and Emmanwori. Everyone else is smoke and mirrors.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
