If you don't realize that Jake Delhomme in 2003 was far, far better than Jimmy Clausen in 2010 (or 2011), then you ain't a Panthers fan, man.

thats kinda my point...clausen is a rookie and we want results now...ok,.. luck with all his known abilities comes in with the basically the same personnel if not worse...if we draft luck...that means the most dynamic wrs will be gone by our next draft pic...we dont have a 2nd....whos a good free agent wr this year...smitty wants out..whos good FA TE this year..if our center bails..yeah we got stewert and goodson what if d-will bails...yeah he said he wants to says but what if..with all of this very probable ifs coming...do you think luck will fare better than jimmy....in this case...would you like a future montana or a very very stout d with a vet QB and a young jimmy holding a clip board in hopes that this season is a normal qb rookie season...not all rookie qbs who turn really good have a good rookie season.....now think long term...honestly...we can wait

What the 2000 Ravens, 2002 Bucs, and to some extent the 2003 Panthers did is by and large unsustainable and they aren't examples of models to aspire to. They (the first two, mostly) are snapshots of a moment in time where teams with retard strength in one area and pronounced weaknesses in others walked into a perfect storm type situation and walked out with a Lombardi. The fact that none of them made it back to a Super Bowl and they all had very limited success in the playoffs afterward should further drive the one-off nature of those teams home.

You want consistent double-digit wins, home playoff games, byes, and titles? Getting a quarterback is still the best place to start.

lol way to go. I looked at the filename and it's the old reliable "MARINO AINT GOT NO RING"

You're right dude, let's just stick with career backups and journeymen and hope one day we'll have the 2000 Ravens defense, have the rest of the division poo the bed, and back in to some home playoff games and hopefully a championship.

Here let's simplify it further: teams that win Super Bowls more often than not have very good, usually reliable quarterbacks. Agree/Disagree go go go

point is what luck is heading for with us is no name WRs with a good d...yeah he'll put up stats and we'll cheer but in the long run....dam marino...and i not saying luck is no good...i want luck...but being sensible for long term thats not who we should get...we dont have what he will need...we're gonna david carr the poor boy...i dont want that

the year we made it to the super bowl due mainly to Jp and our defense....who was our QB?

You mean our defense that was ranked 8th and wasn't even the best one in the division?? I am sure it had nothing to do with all Delhomme's 4th quarter comebacks. They just gave us the Cardiac kids nickname for the defense right??
