Do you trust hurney

To not screw things up this off season?

I bet every GM in the league started drooling when they saw that Hurney had his mitts on the #1 pick in the draft.

I have this vision of Hurney walking around in a big city as a lost child with the golden ticket hanging out his back pocket. Who then makes a wrong turn down a dimly lit alley, and as he's slowly walking along a sinister looking Bill Belichick steps out of the shadows and says... you look lost kid, a wide eyed Hurney slowly and softly says yeaaa.

Belichick look's around the alley then back at Hurney and says... what you got there boy? Hurney pulls out the golden ticket and replies with glee...it's the #1 pick mister!

Belichick then says ever used one of those before son? Hurney then says with a sheepiest look on his face... no sir.

Bill smiles put's his arm around Hurney and says come with me kid, then they slowly slip into the shadows.

Time goes by and Hurney doesn't show back up till the 3rd round of this years draft where he and his new friend Russ Grimm go to work with their new-found picks... DT,DE,OLB and a FG kicker to finish it off... THE END

Hurney has had the #2 pick before and he knocked it out of the park. We had the expansion Texans above us but how different is #2 than #1?

I trust him 100% in the 1st round and the 3rd to find quality players. Not in the 2nd. He even screwed up this year's pick one whole year in advance.

I trust he will go BPA and find a good player no matter where we pick, I can't say it will be at a position of immediate need though.

I used to trust him trading up/down but not anymore. He blew all the good faith he had built up. If he keeps screwing up he's gone.

Peppers, Gross, Gamble, Davis, Williams, Beason, Stewart, Otah

I have faith Hurney will make the right call in the first round, honestly it's probably better he wont be picking in the 2nd...he already gave that away to Belicheat

yup lol

the man has his flaws, but you can't deny his ability to draft in the first round

He has done well with most of the picks and he is right in the upper echelon of getting guys who become starters.

His free-agent moves have been really questionable..and thats when we spent money....hi Mike Whale, Ken Lucas..

He was interviewed about Vincent Jackson and Anquan Boldin and said that those players were not on the radar bc they played their best football already and we would be gaining a player that is on the downside of their career...THX

TO say like him hate him...I like him..but Armanti is an alarming pick that I think JR had a lot to do with. Wofford vs App state is a big game for JR so his perception may have been skewed.

Seriously, can you blame Hurney for these draft moves? How is he suppose to predict how a player comes out? Furthermore, how the hell do you know that they player that most of you claim "sucks" wasn't rated higher then you had them ?

You can't seriously blame Hurney for every draft move because every GM makes mistakes.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
