Final Game Day thread Panthers @ Falcons

While the Falcons have clinched a playoff spot, home field advantage is still at stake with a win today.

New Orleans could get home field if Atlanta loses, so there is no way the Falcons are going to rest starters or back off.

For all you fantasy geeks, the Panthers have never been able to stop Michael Turner and Roddy White has his way most of the time as well. Playing the Falcons defense, or anyone's defense for that matter, against the Panthers will get you some points today as well.

Meanwhile, the John Fox coaching staff and the team are probably happy this has all come to an end and they (the team and the coaches) will likely be as loose as we've seen them in years. Who knows, Carolina might score 17 today.

Panthers win 20-17 on a last second FG, this is the players SB. Nothing to lose, they will go ALL OUT. A chance to put a dent into ATL's home field? Division rival? its going to be a hard fought game. One thing is, Fox has never beaten Mike Smith and Matt Ryan at home. 0-2

    • I'm trying to get the random draw for Australia and whoever us plays match 3 but I think tickets to a lot of games are going to drop dramatically as world cup gets closer. Us games won't but a lot of the random ones will
    • @cranky   Augmenting your offensive analysis    Saints figured out panthers D Sad   Just sad     The panthers need a new DC.      Many takeaways but here is the 2 biggest.   One  nickel routes, the coverage of the nickel back on offensive slot receiver tells offense that the out routes will be wide open.   Ie. Get nickel back to sit and the other 2 DBs rarely challenge and are yards away leaving wr wide open   The same concept on screen plays     Two. continued positional issues in a defense that is run over and over
    • I think if you look at Cam Newton’s rushing totals, there is an argument he should be in the HOF. I wrote a post many years ago comparing his TD total to those of great RBs of yesteryear’s past. Unfortunately I cannot find that post, and I don’t recall the specifics, but the takeaway was that players above a certain total rushing TD were all in the HOF.  And those players were all RBs that I was comparing Cam to. At the time, Cam may not quite have been there yet, but if you projected forward, he was on pace to easily clear the hurdle. I have no idea if he ended up doing that since his career was cut short.    That being said, even if he did make it to whatever that threshold was, I think he was too polarizing a player, with too short a peak, for voters to put him in the HOF.
