IMO perfect time to trade someone is right before they fall off, not after. Get top value still and then they go on to do next to nothing on their new team. Easy to see who wins out in that scenario.

I'd be in favor of keeping him, but not depending on him as a number one receiver. He's getting nicked up way too much to leave him in that role.

Could they trade him? Sure, but you wouldn't get anywhere near what most folks on here expect in return.

You're right, but I don't think Smitty has fallen off yet, and I'm not in favor of trading him. I bet you get a REAL QB in here next year and he'll be 70+ catches and over 1,000 yards again like it's nothing.

He's never been a great route runner.

One big strength was being able to reel in highlight worthy catches in double coverage, regardless of the inaccurate lame duck passes that were chucked up to him. This year at one point he lead the NFC in drops, he's not making those same plays.

His other big strength was being a huge YAC threat, the ability to take a 2 yard pass and turn it into an 50+ yard TD. This year his YAC total is behind guys like Kevin Boss, Terrell Owens, Braylon Edwards. He's tied with Brian Hartline. :eek:

There's only so much you can blame on a QB. To me it's obvious that he's fallen off as he has been for awhile now. But as mentioned, hopefully some team thinks it's all because of our QBs/offensive system/playcalling/ect and sends up some high pick, though I doubt we get more than a 4th or 5th.

doesn't matter. I don't think it hurts our chances. Clasuen doesn't look for him except for the rare bone when he starts yapping.
