any more Luck/Harbaugh skeptics?

You mean gamble...and it all depends. You can not convince me that there is a such thing as a sure fire bet. The way I look at it, Luck will fall into one of four categories, a) the unforeseen flop B) pretty good-decent starter, but better suited back-up c) consistant starter d) perinnial pro-bowler/Super Bowl MVP

Now, as odds have it, he'll neither be 'a' nor 'd' so he'll most likely be somwhere in the middle. Considering the needs we have, I'd much rather go with a "League" guy than another rookie and accumulate more picks.

I hope I'm wrong about this, but #1 overall burdens a program if they don't pan out (option 'd') with cap and leadership implications.

I'm wanting the safe route,--it's the unpopular stance, but the one I'm taking.

What exactly is "safe" about any draft pick?

Do you really think if we trade down and watch him light up the league as the next Peyton Manning for ten years or more playing for someone else, we'll be able to justify it by saying "hey at least we got a good guard and defensive tackle out of the deal" :nonod:

You don't take the risk, you don't get the reward.

Sitting at a computer armchair QB-ing a multi-million dollar frachise is ballsy when you reap no ramifications other than bellyaching as a fan if you're wrong?

Wow those are brass balls!!!!

Sad thing is that you don't even have the balls to "want" to go all in.

I would love to play poker with you.....your kids would still be trying to pay off your debt decades from now.

Don't understand the asinine fans that try to make reason for why we should'nt draft Luck and hire Harbaugh. It's like they want us to continue being mediocre or are just too pessimistic in life.

There's always got to be a few who go against the grain for the sole purpose of attention or having a hopeful "I told you so" in their back pocket.

For what reason, I don't know. At this point, putting our franchise in the hands of Andrew Luck under center and seeing what happens looks a million times better than someone else taking him and thinking about what might have been for the rest of our fan lives.

did..

you..

watch..

the game???

Or are you too busy wondering how to get a team like the Patriots and Colts without actually having the most important player on the team?

Your assumption is that Luck wouldn't pull a Eli Manning.

If Harbaugh doesn't end up in Carolina, it is certainly possible that Luck will demand a trade.

A trade many teams will want to be a part of. Although it may seem like we don't have the upper hand, competition between teams for Luck would mean we do. Basically, if luck did that, we wouldn't come out empty handed.

You're biased--it's obvious in you're post. He's going to "light it up". Luck is a very good college QB in a professional system. Therefore, he's an ALMOST certain thing, right? Again, if he doesn't become Peyton Manning, or close--that is going to set our franchise back several years either by hoping for that next step or hanging on to the #1 you don't dare cut if he does not pan out. The opportunity cost of what may have been is the unknown that will haunt us.

This game has showed how much they care about their team. I love how they keep talking about how tonight is not about where them but what their team has done tonight. I have no doubt both of these guys have great leadership qualities. If we could have both of these guys on the Panthers I would be the happiest guy on earth.

How so? Remember, we passed on Harrington and got Peppers. I think that worked out well, don't you?

..... Peppers was an ELITE prospect coming out of UNC, a universally accepted freak of nature. Harrington was a 4-star QB coming out of college but the texans needed a QB and they rolled the dice with him. Likewise, Luck is not just a 5-star QB but an ELITE prospect that you don't pass on. Or else you're laughed at like the portland trailblazers when they passed up Michael Jordan.

Yes...

I...

did...

They ran a WCO passing game and gashed VT with the run. Luck looked VERY mediocre until VT got gashed for the 2nd long run of the game. At that point, they fell apart and Luck began to pass the ball more openly.

Taking a QB and having him bust is a risk I'll take. It happens to teams all over, and they recover.

Passing on the next Manning? Not so easy to recover from unless you get someone else that's equal, and those guys don't come along on a yearly basis.

We pass on Luck, we will be labeled the dumbest franchise in the league (and we'll deserve it).

Maybe you should just stop rooting for a football team, I don't think you have the nerves to handle it. Most people are excited at the chance to have a franchise QB, and all you can do is think of possible consequences.

Wow, I give up at this point when a Luck is being regarded as the best to ever play his respective sport before playing an NFL snap.

I'm really starting to doubt the *no homo* discalimers.
