Im just curious.

Jake's days are winding down so who do you think will be the future QB of the panthers?

Moore or a draft pick?

Maybe even a qb from the FA or maybe another one like Jake that just comes out of nowhere.

Personally I hope its not Moore he is a solid backup but he looked worse in the Pre-season then he did last season, but I have a feeling knowing the Panthers FO they are planning on having Moore line up behind center a couple years from now as our starter.

What do you guys think?

Please state your reason why after you vote

He ain't got "it".

Think about all the quarterbacks that come out lately... Alex Smith, Aaron rodgers, Jay Cutler... None of them are in the league of Manning, Brady, Warner... You just sometimes get lucky, like with Matt Ryan.

Could Matt Moore be serviceable like Aaron Rodgers? I think so. I don't think he will be as good as Jake, and def not a top 5 player

You never know, really. Moore showed a few flashes of a great QB.

Let's not forget that Jake has several more years of being a starter, given that he is still healthy and doesn't continue his trend of tossing balls to the defense in playoff games.

However, Jake was quite the longshot when the Panthers picked him up. Sometimes the stars just align and a great QB is added to the roster without much notice or fanfare or high predictions of talent. Let's remember that everyone "knew" Matt Cassel was going to be a junky backup. Regardless if he is just a decent QB with an amazing team, he still looks pretty good out there and proved many, many people wrong. The league is odd sometimes. Guys just step up and do great and some guys just do horrible.

That being said, I'd love to see Carolina grab a QB higher than the third round (which would be higher than any QB in Panthers history, with only drunko Kerry Collins being a first round QB draft pick)

But who knows. In general, the Panthers organization has shyed away from grooming QB's. They don't like drafting them high and would rather prefer experience under the belt before they invest in a player. I think that's the safer method (lets all remember Ryan Leaf for a bit...), but at some point I'd like to see the Panthers stick their neck out and draft a young guy for QB. Maybe once Jake retires they'll go that route should they have a good enough draft class.

Oh, btw. Nick007VH, your avatar is kickass. 1.) for ass and 2.) for Ron Paul support. Doubly whammy.

delhomme will retire only a couple seasons after his abilities have depleted enough to paralyze the pass offense and moore will come in at 27 to complete on average 55% of his passes, throw for 2800 yards and 14-12 td-int ratio every year until he's 32.

fun for everyone

this offseason is the most likely season to draft a QB high than any other season during john fox's tenure

we have one of the best running games in the NFL which is a quarterbacks best friend, our O-line is also one of the best

Jake had a good season but also had the worst game of his career in the post-season, which was supposed to be his saving grace, and every year he gets older the likelyhood only increases

I'm not sure it will happen but It is definatley has the greatest chance this year

I haven't seen enough of matt moore to know whether or not he is the future, it's possible but he will have to start a few more games for me to know what kind of QB he is

As someone said, he doesn't have the "it" factor. If we ever want to be seen as a year in and year out top contender, we need to have a roster that says that. No more Cardiac Cats. Moore is nothing more than what Jake is, a servicable QB. I want a star running the show.

Where's the star coming from this season? Cassel, (just about everyone here says no) There isn't a star QB in the draft IMO either. I do like Cassel though.

    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
    • He has been a good player and clean player over the years. I don’t follow that close but think he was closing in on setting his resume for his place in the all time rankings. I am sympathetic to him becaus this will hurt him there.
