It's not just the actual authority McDaniels would have (or not have), it's the fact that he often clashes personalities to the point where players end up demanding trades.

He doesn't have final say like he did in Denver. Plus he wont be coming in trying to make an example out of someone just to show his authority to the players on the team like with Denver.

A midseason firing has a way of humbling a person. I'll bet he's learned a thing or 2 this past season about how to handle people. No doubt that McDaniels is a very intelligent offensive coach. If he's matured then I'm for it.

I guessed that Steve Wilks (DB) and Don Johnson (DL) would likely be part of his staff, since he has familiarity with them from both CHI and SD.

they would both have to be let out of contract. I saw the links to his Chicago career but I don't know that they're available.
