Fairley Impressed me

I think everyone was impressed with Fairley. This game has showed that he is worthy of the #1 pick. This draft is going to be interesting, do we go Offense or Defense?

depends entirely on what we do in free agency before the draft. if we fill the necessary offensive needs, then drafting fairley at number one shouldn't be out of the range of possibility.

One thing that doesn't impress me with him is that he is considered a dirty player. I was going to look up player comparisons on Nick Fairley and when I went to type in his name the word dirty was the first recommendation after his name. I honestly like having dirty players but they can hurt us with penalties and suspensions. The NFL is very strick on dirty players and JR might decide not to get him based on this.

Some of that will be teached out of him. But really you want your defensive guys to have a little mean streak. As long as he doesnt get penalized I have no problem with it.

ha, wouldn't it be a slap in the face if he pulled a Luck and decided to stay in school.

If there is no rookie salary cap there is no way Fairly stays in school, he now has been a part of a team that won the top title in the NCAA, he has no reason other than his degree and possible heisman to return to Auburn. I particularly would not want him due to his character issues and cheap shots on the field. I will not lie and say he didn't impress me tonight, because he did. But I haven't researched him enough to tell if he takes plays off or would be a headcase like Haynesworth. He wouldn't be a bad pick in the draft, and from what I've seen from him the few times I've watched Auburn play this year, he doesn't seem to be a bust at the next level. I do not think he has the potential that Suh or McCoy had coming out of college last year.

Our DTs could very well be: Fairly, FA, Landri, FA (Ngata is a pipe dream for all of us and there is no way Baltimore let's him walk for no compensation/ so I left him off the list.)

I'd still prefer AJ in the draft depending on the Smitty situation.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
