John Fox press conference

so John Fox has ZERO say in personnel during his tenure? he couldn't have said, hey guys, we need to do something about this QB situation. I think we need to prepare for life without Jake Delhomme because his skills are diminishing.

Why do you think coaches like Bill and Andy still have jobs in the same place? they the balls to step up and say, hey, this guy is done, time to move on.

that's the absurdity of it all

with fox it was "JAKE JAKE JAKEY JAKE" when he was here, and he never really benched him despite how awful he played in 09. "he's our guy, he gives us the best chance to win", and then he pretty much cries at Jake's post-release PC

so naturally he takes a totally different trajectory to villainize our FO on his new team

John Fox is not the first coach to leave Charlotte with a bad taste in his mouth.

And Julius Peppers was not the first player to take a couple parting shots as well.

My question to the board is this:

Now that we've witnessed coaches leaving and making some not so complimentary comments and we've heard the same from several players, at what point do you start to believe that where's there's smoke, there is probably fire? Maybe if you heard it once or twice, but seriously, we've been hearing it for a few years from players after they've left and the Fox coaching staff is not the first, either.

That's something that will likely not be known for many years, if ever. Does the fact that some of our staff, even after Rivera has talked to them, appear to be going with Fox instead provide additional evidence or is it purely coincidental?

Fox's comments may or may not have the scope that everyone here thinks. He's certainly making comments regarding last season but about anything beyond that, I'm not sure of it myself.

Whatever the case may be, John Fox cannot escape his role in the last two years here. However, it would not be fair to him to say it was all him because the organization has to be accountable as well. Instead of firing Fox last season when it was clear that he was unwilling to change his approach, they decided to keep him mainly because they didn't want to pay for two coaching staffs. From a business perspective, it makes sense especially if there is a lockout. From a fan's perspective, though, it spelled disaster. In other words, Fox was a car that only accepted unleaded but the organization wanted to and used diesel instead. :nonod:

"The quarterback situation is better than the one -- some of the ones -- that I've been at."

Gee, I wonder who he was talking about :sosp:

It's gonna be interesting to watch Fox from an outsider perspective. Be even more interesting if he coaches a 3-4.

Wonder who his DC will be.

You're a fool if you believe Marty didn't give Fox every player that he asked for.

That's why we didn't have comments about "the personnel department" start to appear until he no longer was getting the players that he wanted.

I am sure Fox didn't ask for any FA the last two years. And three out of the last four. He was the GM and coach that is what was in his title, and why everyone says he has too much power.

You can say what you will about Fox. I did not agree with his system at all times, but all BS aside, he won more than he lost in the regular season and in the Playoffs. That is a fact. Up until this year, we were not a bad team. Why were we bad this year? Well thank the Governor of the CBA for that.

:confused5:

What?
