I have seen some compare Clausen to Aikman...

I need to find this to clarify what exactly the topic was on, but a friend of mine told me about ESPN Today Football Podcast that discussed Fox and Co's ability to coach QBs and said they were one of the worst at doing so..

that, playcalling, and it being a rookie QB are a lot of reasons why you all can't be serious to scrap a QB after last year..

Something said on ESPN that people around here won't have much trouble agreeing with.

then that would mean Moore should be brought back to start.

b/c if Fox and Co are THAT bad....Moore had some great moments over his short Carolina career under Fox.

well a lot about ESPN is wrong.. but not everything. They do have Beadle and Van Pelt... ;)

that would be correct.. and you can look to playcalling as evidence they weren't on top of their game..

Delhomme wasn't exactly a product of Fox's coaching..

Maybe, but do we know what limits were placed on him? Everybody seems POed that he would dump off so much. Maybe Fox/Davidson didn't trust the rookie so directed him to 1 read, not there, dump short. That sounds like the conservative type of thing they would do.

I'm certain they did. Unless Clausen lost the ability to scan the field then i think the coaching staff designed lock on plays for him.

By the end of the season they had opened up the playbook but it didn't make much difference

We will find out in the next 2 years

The one thing I noticed with Clausen, is when he can roll out he is a lot more comfortable, sets his feet and throws the ball with authority.

Unfortunately didn't see that much, whether by design or accident.

Who knows. I guess we are were we are. Time will tell.

Fox, is that you?

I kid.. ;)

Because our offense was run-based deep play action pass, I personally find it hard to think they would tell him to dump off but that's just my opinion.

I didn't say dump off.

If you watched his early games most of the pass plays were such that he was looking at a receiver from the beginning. Some short passes some long whatever.

If you watched his late games he tried to scan a bit more then dumped it off because he couldn't find the open guy.

I think the staff rarely told him just to dump it off. NFL doesn't work that way.

We are 90% of the way to the obvious conclusion that he is done. Call it whatever you want.

he either will or won't.. most QBs don't make it.. you can make an educated guess, but you shouldn't come up with that conclusion because he sucked this year.. for reasons I've stated..

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
