For those saying someone like Kolb can't fit in anywhere else and be successful....

Check out this guy:

That's Matt Cassel. I remember when he was available from the Patriots some time bet and everyone said the SAME things about him as they are Kolb.

"He's a system QB, so it's easier for him." Etc.

Looked at his numbers this year? (On a good team that's in the playoffs mind you)

Rating: 93

Yards: 3,116

TD's: 27

INT's: 7

Looks like he's done pretty good for himself down in KC. It's always a gamble and it's something you have to do. KC was terrible, traded for Cassel, did some changes, and a couple years later are in the playoffs. What if we did that? Things may be a lot different right now.

Just something to think about....

He sucked ass his first year with the Chiefs.

16 td, 16 int, 69.9 rating, 14 fumbles, 3 lost. It wasn't until they completely revamped the system to be somewhat similar to the Patriots, that he was able to succeed again.

If we were to use the system the Eagles use, then I'm down for getting Kolb. I'd also be down to see what Clausen/Moore could do in that system also though.

I'm mainly showing the connection where everyone didn't want him either. His first season wasn't the best, true, but way better than any of our QB's had this year. You could say Weis came in and helped him but I think it's more than that. I'm just saying, sometimes you take a chance.

If we could trade our 1st down and get more picks, THEN trade that first, I'd be OK with it. Kolb has looked good when he has played, mostly.

And I wouldn't be against changing an offense to fit the QB, it makes sense. Maybe he'd do better in a different system though.

We shouldn't blow it off completely. Maybe we can wait and see what the league does, as in, offering picks (when/if CBA gets renewed). If it gets away from the first round I say we ****** him.

Are you calling this year mediocre for Cassel?

Mediocre would have been a compliment for his playoff performance.

Might be more accurate to call his overall career in KC mediocre. In 2009, he had as many picks as he did TDs (16 of both) and almost as many fumbles (14). This past season, he showed improvement in some categories, but the Chiefs feasted off a weak schedule in the regular season and were clearly overmatched in the playoffs.

The obvious difference between 2009 and 2010? Charlie Weis. What happens next year when Weis is gone again?

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
