Jets NFLPA Rep is Optimistic

During a wide-ranging NFL Players Association conference call today, New York Jets strong safety and player representative Jim Leonhard expressed hope that a work stoppage can be avoided.

"I think players are optimistic that something is going to get done," Leonhard said. "Obviously we realize there’s a long way to go in the negotiations. You have to be optimistic. The game is in a great right place right now. Both sides don’t want to mess that up."

Neither side wants to truly be without the NFL next year. Too much money to lose on both sides of the coin and if they don't eventually realize this (which I'm sure they do), they'll all look like stubborn idiots..........wait they already are.

We're basically in the waiting area until one of the sides (most likely NFLPA) will ease off their demands and come to a resolution with the owners. I honestly can see it dragging past the March deadline, but something being resolved mid-summer. So, until any official news is out, it will be updates like this which are fluff as HP put.

Bottom line, the Billionares lose money from this business, not personally nor from the Business that made them billionares.

Everything about Football is wrong when it comes to salaries.

In the real world employees don't dictate how much the boss is gonna pay them.

In the real world if you want medical it comes out of your salary.

If you want a retirement plan then you and the company agree on how much you pay in and how much they pay in.

When the miminum salary is a quarter of a million bucks a year, my heart does not bleed one ioda for the players.

The league should set a minimum and maximum salary cap like it has been but the Cap should be set by the OWNERS not the players. There is going to come a time where the Average fan cannot drop 5-800 dollars to take a family of 4 to a game.

Mr. M. Smith needs to STFU and stop trying to put his name in the history books and start concerning himself what is best for all the players.

The owners do hold all the cards right now. That is why D. Smith is filing these collusion charges. If he can get a judge to go along with the claim, then the players union can seek decertification. If the players get decertified then they can call for a court ordered arbitration. In arbitration they have a lot more leverage. This is what happened back in the day that got the players free agency among other owner concessions.

The sad thing is it will probaably work again this time too. And we will be the ones to suffer while we wait for the courts to hammer out a deal between billionaires and millionaires.
