Missouri Fans perspective on Gabbert

I'm sure the team will do their homework on Gabbert, and if he knocks them dead in interviews and the offensive coordinator falls in love with him, which I think is possible, I don't have a problem drafting him.

I agree. No QB in this draft is worth the #1 overall pick.

You guys know that guy Joe Flacco from Delaware?? Yeah...he played in a spread offense on get this...a DIVISION II team. The Ravens traded UP to take him in the 1st round and he has gone on to lead his team to the top of arguably the most competitive division in pro football. If Joe Flacco was there I bet some of you tools would say he isn't worth taking with the #1 pick. Get over the offense he played in, the QB we COULD have had, and his stats from this year. If the guy knows football, loves football, and wants to be a leader then there is zero problem taking him #1 overall. Make sure he can make the throws, make sure he's a good leader and give the Panthers a freakin franchise QB.

This, along with questions about his ability to read the entire field, are my biggest concerns with him. He's got all the physical ability to be very good, but it's the mental part that is uncertain.

if you take this dude with the first pick he better be good cause the wrong pick normally will cost a coach his job.....its not really as easy as taking the best QB available.

..........Gabbert is going to be OK, but not in 2012. Before bringing in the franchise QB, build the OL, WR corps, and defense. A Franchise QB is the last piece. That is how you eliminate busts/.......

What?? :confused: Most Franchise START the rebuilding WITH a "franchise QB" or a 1st Round drafted QB. I am not saying there is one this year but that is how most teams do it, not the other way around.

As far as Clausen, drafting a QB in Rd 1 if you are high on one of the kids coming out, it is not giving up on Clausen. Let them both learn behind a veteran and if you end up with two QB's you can trade one.

not worth #1 overall material? apparently he is top 5 material so why cant he be #1. Like I said before if he is "their" pick and "they" want him then hell yes he is worthy of a #1 overall pick. Im not saying that this has to be the pick, im just saying our focus is offense and I hate to tell you but a "just to get us by" veteran qb alone just isnt gonna cut it. We need someone to build around and Clausen is most likely not that guy

If anything taking a qb in the first round may be a good thing for Clausen. I think he would be more motivated if you take a guy in the first round. That is a kick in the ass if you ask me. If both guys panned out, well then you trade one of the two, simple enough

he would be a draft based more on need than anything and this would be a HUGE mistake.

there is only one QB in this draft whos upside would be worth him getting taken in the top 5-10 picks, and that is cam newton. and newton is only if you put him in just the right offense and situation.

this is a crap QB class. any early QB picks made would be a monumental reach (even newton if he isn't put into just the right situation).

i totally agree that we need a franchise QB to build around as soon as possible, but there isn't one in this class. i would rather wait a year to get one than to reach for one and have him be subpar talent for where we drafted him.

QB situation is horrible all the way around, but reaching so far for one is not a good idea.

Who do you take next year then? They are already saying that is a relatively weak class for QB in itself other than Luck. Chances are that we will not get Luck (barring a miracle) then what? Ride the vet for another year and another and another until he retires then draft a guy?

And as far as him not being 1st round material, that is a joke. There is a reason scouts are raving about him, and its not because Luck stayed, he was a top 5 pick with Luck in the draft.
