A non sugar-coated look at Jimmy's season

Trying to convince CRA or some others that Clausen is anything but a total failure and a disgrace to humanity is a losing battle...

Just stop trying and sit back and see where it goes next year...

He was a total failure this year and much worse than anyone could have imagined.

I hope he gets better.

He doesn't need to start a game in 2011.

- no one should have an issue w/ my 3 real points.

***!! I am so fuking sick of all the Clausen bashing....I felt sorry for our rookie qb's last season; They were playing in a system already damaged by the 'purging of the veterans'....a completely damaged system with injuries and inexperience which led to a patchwork set of teamates working on a staff who knew were coaching their last season in Charlotte.

Let the new Regime draft and put this team back together...assemble a healthy O-line and give these rookies another shot.

I think your third point is premature. Or it could be stated,

"He shouldn't start a game in 2011 unless he's earned it through honest competition with an experienced NFL Quarterback"

If he makes the same kind of improvement he did between his freshman and sophomore years at Notre Dame, or the same kind that Alex Smith did after his rookie season, no impartial fan would have a problem with him starting at all. But that if is bigger to some than others. :)

I am all for some good competition at QB. If he wins the job over an established veteran or high draft pick then so be it.

I'm all for a competition. I don't think we should cut him or anything like that, I just think he did poorly last year. I expected him to struggle, just not as much as he did.

Oh well. As Cyberjag pointed out, he struggled at Notre Dame too. I just hope he can turn things around.

My reasons for doubting that, though, are as much his mechanics and intangibles as his stats. He's not going to grow extra inches and it seems unlikely his throwing motion will get fixed any time soon and I'm concerned he isn't really able to command the huddle... but I guess stranger things have happened.

give him a chance i'm so tired of people just giving up after 1 year.

I am perfectly willing to give him a chance.

I just don't see that meaning he should see the field next season. He needs a lot of work on his game before he worries about NFL speed and the complex defenses. He needs to totally rework his throwing motion and release....and that ain't gonna happen overnight.

I hope Jimmy does turn it around so a bunch of people have egg all over their faces. People keep saying he sucked all last season, but he didn't get the first team reps in TC and took a back seat to Moore almost the first quarter of the season. So a rookie that was buried on the depth charts is going to come in a tear things up with an ill-performing OL, not to mention the most predictable playcalling in the NFL? Whatever. Not one person here says Clausen did well last season, but some of us are willing to admit the rook was dealt a bad hand in addition to his own growing pains.

Some of you have the patience of a crackhead looking for their next score.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
