One thing i think A.J. Green fans don't realize

I think 11 and 12 have shown enough promise that WR is not nearly as much of a position of need at this point as QB, DT and CB are.

Given the learning curve of a rookie WR and the fact that we already have two developmental works-in-progress in LaFell and Gettis, I would much rather see us address any need we have at that position through FA.

Getting a talented TE more involved in our passing game would help and it does somewhat lessen our need at the WR position, I think that's what the OP was trying to say?

no, what I meant was if we take AJ Green it'll be at #1, and since there are no TE prospects worth the #1 pick or even in the 1st round, that I'm not sure how this thread is relevant to AJ Green fans..

Because WR doesn't have to shoulder all of the load anymore. Tight Ends can contribute in the pass game now. So there are other ways to help the pass game. Seeing as how Tight End was totally ignored I think going from nothing to above average is better than going to average to good-ish.

I'm just making this for discussion I'm not trying to take a dump on A.J. Green fans or A.J. green.

I have read all threads in this post and I am still unclear what the connection is between AJ Green fans and the Panthers needing a TE...

And our "stable" of WR's is hardly what I would call a logjam. If we happened to draft Green (which I think is unlikely) we will have Steve Smith, AJ Green, and some good young talent battling for the 3rd WR spot. That is not a logjam, that is called an above average NFL WR Corp.

it's not about shouldering any load.. Bring the TE plus Green/Gettis/LaFell/Smitty... there is nothing hindering any aspect, even DT.. that is where I'm coming from..

add more threats AND solve other positions lack of playmakers.. there isn't one or the other, you can do all.. what you can't do is take Fairley and get the same results that I'm laying out to you all..

you say you don't really have a favorite in the draft, so really all my points aren't specifically directed towards you.. but what I did write just above addresses the whole picture..

really, the only topic you're involved in is with the TE.. and I'm saying, if we take Green, we can still address all positions.. TE, DT, WR, and if anyone thinks for a second adding Green is useless, you don't understand football.. at least in today's game.

Picking up Cofield does NOT fix the DT situation. We need two starters and depth. The only DT on the roster right now who may deserve to stay is Landri. The rest of them are garbage. Meanwhile, we have Smith, Gettis and Lafell who are all good.

Also, for the love of God...IF IT'S SO EASY TO ADDRESS AN EGREGIOUS NEED OF MULTIPLE PLAYERS AT DT IN FREE AGENCY, WHY ISN'T IT EASY TO ADDRESS A MODERATE NEED OF ONE WR IN FREE AGENCY?

lol Cofield can play nose tackle and is an anchor for the Giants front four (why the hell wouldn't you want a piece of that more than somebody who dominated for only one year in college and only plays one technique), which we'd need much more than a UT. What i mean is I'd rather have Cofield/Landri starting at DT than Fairley/Ed Johnson

first of all our receivers weren't that good last year, second of all AJ Green is a rare talent at WR and the best prospect since Calvin Johnson, third of all Nick Fairleys show up in the draft almost every single year

Oh btw you know the fairley hype train is just-a chugging along when people are laughing off an anchor for arguably the best front four since 2007

"barry cofield? A guy who can actually play NT? A guy whose missed minimal playing time in his career? A guy who just reeled off his best performance last year, probably the best out of any DT? BAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAAHAHA, who needs that when we can have FAIRLEY!!"

^no of course you're not slurping a guy who might not even be the best DT prospect in this draft
