Hurney on FNZ now

LOL, you have to respect the fact that Hurney will sit there and listen to all that crap.

Coming often from people who have no clue what they're talking about, to be honest.

People expecting really specific answers about strategic questions remind me of the media in that old SNL skit about gulf war press briefings.

Yeah, most of the folks that call into give him crap have no clue what they're talking about... I think Hurney shows incredible restraint when responding to some of those calllers, not sure I would.

It's funny when people call in wanting him to discuss Kolb... HE'S UNDER CONTRACT YOU FRIGGIN MORONS!

Reminds me of the questions the press were asking Rumsfeld immediately after 9/11, "so when and where are we going to attack?"

If he actually answered some of the questions people want him to, he'd become the most popular radio personality among opposing GMs for sure

I distinctly remember a story about Polian shutting his weekly radio appearance down after Colts fans were giving him the kind of crap Hurney was taking.

Happily, Hurney's personality is a lot different than Polian's.

Polian once threw a chair at an agent after a contract negotiation got testy.

Yup, I knew Polian had a temper but I'm learning how bad of a temper he has reading that book about the Panthers first season.

Why Armani Edwards? Lots of blah blah, thinks he is a play maker and will contribute at WR. Missed his answer on why he didn't see the field last season.

last year at some point he addressed this by saying Armanti lost his legs.. WR requires a lot of running compared to QB, so they focused on getting him in shape on that level..

paraphrasing of course..

Yeah, there's a lot in there. I liked the story about Jerry Richardson passing him a note in the middle of a negotiation with C-A-L-M written on it in big letters

which wouldn't be that bad of an idea in my mind

Agreed.

If we get the opportunity to trade down (and get decent compensation) we definitely should trade down. There is no consensus top pick in this draft and we have several needs. Anyone who does not see and understand this should just turn in their Football Card and start watching women's lacross.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
