I'll say the same thing here as I said there...

If you want to argue for Newton and be taken seriously, please do so without making accusations of racism for which you have no basis or evidence.

If you cannot, then you are essentially admitting that you're just not smart enough to debate on facts alone.

i have a hard time taking seriously those who just throw out the names jamarcus russell or vince young or mike vick and saying that proves he will never amount to a very good pro QB or those who say that since they consider that no running QB has become successful in their opinion, none can and who automatically dismiss them and say that their talent is meaningless and won't allow for the possibility that he could actually be successful and has many of the traits to become that.

narrow minded is narrow minded.

what about people that throw out names to prove he'll be successful? is that okay?

both of you are exactly right..

...and hardly anyone worth taking seriously falls in either category..

Warren Moon on Cam:

This is the quote I was looking for...

"I just see him improving," Moon said. "Every day he does something a little bit better than he did the day before, whether it's taking the snap from center or whether it's transferring his weight from dropping back to throwing the football. That's where he's making his biggest adjustment, to me, is being able to drop back, because that's something he's never had to do, and then transfer that weight forward to get velocity behind your throws and also to get accuracy."

A lot of fans keep insinuating that Cam doesn't have the ability to learn or the work ethic to succeed, but it sounds like he has both of those things to me. What more can you ask for?

this.

what people don't get is that Big Ben isn't a reason that Cam Newton should go #1. Russell isn't a reason he shouldn't, either.

Russell IS a reason why you don't put a ton of faith in workouts or draft a guy ONLY for measurables. Big Ben's playstyle is ideally what a lot of people would imagine for Cam Newton and is an example of a quarterback that threw a lot in college in a spread that has done okay for himself in the pros.

Neither of those things prove the previous statements, and I'm tired of both of them.

Where do you get that "a lot of fans" are saying that?

I got flamed for saying that he needed to improve, as did others. All we wanted was for you guys to realize that he had a ton of room for improvement and we weren't ready to make our decisions yet, but when Warren Moon says that he improves things it's okay.

Come on man.

from the outside looking in, I agree.. if the scouting department and coaches like Cam, then I say we take him..

yeah, it's time people pull whatever is in their ass, out.. and start listening to the little points people are making, instead of assuming it means something drastically greater..

In the end I have faith in the scouting department. They know way more then I do and have been spot on for the most part. Our #1 picks have been great for a while now. If Newton is not picked then its because he should not have been. I still dont know if I can take another season of Jimmy Jam though. :willy_nilly:
