How to Nudge the Team Toward Cam Newton

This....

Also all of the Fans do not want CAM.... The fan base is actually pretty split on who they want the team to draft.

Very sad, just as I submitted this reply on my home laptop this morning it crashed.... Operating System not found!!! AHHH Damn HP

All the fans didnt want Luck, but this message board seemed to want to portray that picture. The only Panther fans I know that are adamant against Cam Newton post on this message board. I havent met one in real life that is against us drafting a franchise QB. I dont know any Panther fans who think our QB situation is fine enough to the point we can pass on the best QB prospect in decades. All the Panther fans I know in real life want to win. The internet is a seperate beast.

It is very true that all fans did not want Luck, but it was an Overwhelming majority.

Whereas for Cam I think it maybe a slight majority, if that on this board. When it comes to Cam the fanbase is much more split than it was for Luck.

The moment the front office drafts someone based on the fans' opinions is the moment I realize all hope is lost. Yeah, lets listen to the folks that do the wave while we are on offense.

The wave my good man is a keen way to get blood rushing to the brain.

Get out more ffs' date=' I've met plenty, of several races before you even throw that card out that don't think Cam is a franchise QB, and don't want him here....[/quote']

Its not a card. Given our poor situation at QB last season and the fact we are rebuilding. Why would you not want the best QB available? Thats like football 101. Some of our fans just arent keen on winning or let me rephrase that, they only want to win under certain conditions. Winning at all costs is a foreign concept to them. Thats how you explain a franchise that goes 16 years in and has 4 winning seasons and considers itself "successful". We have to change the mindset, upgrading our QB position and the standards we hold them to is a good start.

We arn't rebuilding. This same team with this new staff wins a ton more games. We dont' have a ton of guys including LB and OL not on IR and we win more games.

The best QB? The kid won't be ready for 3 years, so what do you do till then? you want to wait to see if he develops or get a guy in here NOW that can help us win NOW and see if Clausen develops?

Me? I want to win NOW

But we do need to rebuild. I'm sure everyone on all teams want to win now... doesn't mean it is very realistic. I don't see us as a win now team in 2011, I see us as a last make a big improvement team and be competitive.

I don't care if it takes cam 3 years to develope.... I think if he can make the jump and learn complex coverages, read defenses, and have the game slow down for him then I want him on the Panthers. If the staff feels he can make that leap then draft him... If not.... A.J Green

No quarterbacks in this draft. None :nonod:

And yeah, if team management actually started taking advice from fans, I'd lose all faith in them.

I agree 100% that the team should never draft based on fan opinion, but how can you be so sure they won't like Cam enough to use the 1st pick on him? Should they be worried that some fans think it's a reach if they do?

I don't believe they'll go QB at number one for three reasons:

1) whether we like it or not, they are committed to giving Jimmy Clausen a fair shot to prove whether or not he can be a franchise QB

2) the team has other significant needs that could be addressed now rather than taking a guy whose impact won't be felt for at least a year (quite possibly more)

3) having multiple young quarterbacks on roster makes coaching them up more difficult

With all that said, they could still do it. I just don't believe they should.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
