Anyone Here Do Boxing Workouts?

Let me preface this by saying I have absolutely zero intention of getting in the ring with anyone. Those of you who have met me know that I will literally get killed if I did that. I have never tried it before and people say it is a good workout and even better stress reliever.

I want to try it for strictly fitness purposes. Heavy bag, speed bag, etc. Anyone here that lives in Charlotte know of a good place?

Thanks.

I box, but in Wilmington. And trust me, you say that you will never want to step in the ring... But after a few months of hardcore training on the bags, you will want to at least give sparring a shot.

When I first started, I was the same. No f*cking way I'm getting in that ring, ever. Now, although I get my face beat in every time I compete, I can't stop myself from wanting more fights. The adrenaline you get when in the ring is unreal.

Nope, never. Looking into taking classes though out of fear for KoolKatLuke.

On a more serious note, it's one of the best things you can do for yourself. You will absolutely hate it and love it at the same time, depending on how hard you work. Like SIOS said, you will want to get in the ring eventually. Nothing compares to hand to hand combat.

If you want a real workout, join an MMA gym and expand your training.

Thanks, Smitty. Maybe after awhile and I learned the basics and felt good about it, I could spar with someone who is on my level. I think it would be good for my self confidence and overall fitness.

Right now I just want to learn and get the fitness benefits of it.

As for MMA, that stuff is too much for me.

    • The teams this 2nd year player (can’t really blame the years before he was drafted on him) was playing were going 100% as most do most weeks in the NFL. The whole argument is about his play during that period and how well was he actually playing. I’m with you on the winning though. Just start winning and fans will get excited. Start getting in the playoffs and winning and we won’t care how his PFF or box score stats look. 200 yards a game to 400 yards a game, start scoring and winning playoffs games and 99% of fans will buy in.
    • Yeah, we are gonna be raw.  Wonnum, for the past 3 years, has been averaging 8 sacks a season (4 in one season when he missed half a season).  I am OK, but yes, they will be thrown to the fire.
    • I like this because it means one or both of the rookies will be thrust into a bigger role right away and we can see what they might be. I don't like this because it just makes our team that much younger and inexperienced.  You need vets to help the young guys learn, I just hope we aren't going too far in the opposite direction.  All our FA signings were guys just coming off their rookie deals too, I get why we're doing it, but having the savvy vets help in other ways too.
