No one can dispute Newton's physical prowess. There's no question that he is a great player, the question is will he be a great NFL QB. His head, leadership, decision making and accuracy under fire are all things that are very difficult to measure and are all things that are paramount in being a great NFL QB. Hopefully someone on our staff will have a chance to judge what he brings in these areas before April.

I was strongly against Newton at first, but he keeps showing a willingness to prove himself. He's showing leadership ability, which is a good thing. If he can show good accuracy during the combine, he may very well be worth the risk.

Given that all options at #1 are a risk this year, he starting to look like the best option. Fairley just screams the negatives that you see in Haynesworth, and hasn't really done much to prove otherwise. At least Newton is making an effort. You have to give him props for that.

This is prefect breakdown MG and the only problem I have with Cam.

Newton fans need too stop blaming people for being uneasy with the Cam pick. Blame the Auburn HC for doing no favor too Cam's Pro profile. Running the dumb QB offense didn't show what Cam could do in a pro offense. Which has people ? Cam.

My concerns about Cam:

Is he smart enough to be successful against NFL defenses?

Can he make all the throws?

Can he play a pro offense?

How hard does he work? How much film does he watch?

Character?....it has been a repeated concern.

Will his father be a non factor?

Concerns 1-4 would be the same with any college QB...especially a spread QB.

The combine should answer some questions and film study will answer some others.

Loved Peete. He would never lose a game. He couldn't win, but never lost. I still listen to the Peetes radio show on satelite radio. Wish Holly would come back and sing. I just hope Newton is as good as Peete.
