Tender Kalil and Johnson?

johnson isnt worth the first and third tender either. nobody in their right minds would give that up for him.

wether we believe a player is worth it or not, there is still a risk.

both kalil and johnson are very young. kalil is already a pro bowl top center in the league, and johnson did nothing but shine his first season as an every down starter.

both are worth mid-late first round picks to established teams who are looking to upgrade aging high priced vets.

Keep in mind that you have the right to match the salary offered by the other team or take the picks. So tendering Kalil and Johnson would not risk losing them unless they wanted to leave or there was a poison pill which is discouraged by the league.

Having a guy test the waters in free agency might be a good way of seeing how other teams in the league view them before we make a long term offer. We did it with Marshall last year and we all saw that although he wanted to be highly paid, no one else saw it the same way. It helped readjust what he was worth.

If you use the non-exclusive franchise tag he can negotiate with others but you get to match it or take the 2 first rounders.

wow...

So some people continue to think the CHARLES JOHNSON and RYAN KALIL are more valuable players than DWill...

s...m...h...

Remove Johnson from our DLine and how much pressure do we generate (thats completely disregarding his best strength - stopping the run)?

Remove Kalil from our OLine and where is the experience?

Remove DWill from our Running game and I think Stew and Goodson/Sutton cope Ok

Please do SYH.

A probowl center is worth more than a rb.

The best defensive lineman on the line is also worth more than a rb.

You can live in denial all you want to, but keep it to yourself.

oh, forgive me... How silly of me to think one can express their own opinions on an internet message board...

But, the way I see it, your post was not so much of an opinion but a critical anticipation of others' opinions. I personally would welcome your supported opinion.

Johnson will want to be in this system. It is tailor made for him to put up big numbers. Williams will likely be here as well. This is a much better situation than one where he will be the feature back and get overused and injured. Plus with his injury history right now I doubt people are going to be throwing money at him right now. He has played 19 games in the past 2 years. And he missed 10 games in 2010. Anyone think he gets huge pay day right now??

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
