2025 Week 12 -> A Repeat of 2013 Week 11?

Recommended Posts

Looking ahead to our 2025 Week 12 matchup against the 49ers, I can’t help but draw some parallels to a game that’s etched in my mind: Week 11 of the 2013 season, when Cam Newton absolutely balled out against the New England Patriots. That game felt like a turning point for Cam’s career and, honestly, for the whole franchise. It announced to the world that Cam was here, and that the Panthers were here to be a contender (for 5 years at least) The way Cam not only led us to a win but also announced to the world that he was THE QB of the future for the Panthers was unforgettable, and is still my favorite game ever.

Now, with Bryce Young coming into his third season, there’s a lot of pressure on him to make that same kind of statement. Could Week 12 in 2025 be his Cam moment, where he finally breaks out to the world?

Or could it be the game where BY officially flames out as a Panthers QB, and we're looking ahead to the 2026 draft?

That Pats game in 2013 is possibly my favorite non-playoff game in the last 15 years. A few other candidates that year including 49ers and Aints and of course several in 2015.

But I don't really see the parallels or comparison here. Cam was setting records in his first career game and everyone knew he was 100% the real deal from the start. Him getting benched in year 2 was about as farfetched of a scenario as anyone could dream up. The Pats game I did not view as a turning point for him at all, he played an amazing game but he had amazing games before that too. Honestly, I don't even think Cam was all that much better in 2013 than his first 2 seasons. 2015 was his big breakout year before injuries impacted his prime way too soon.

That game was more of a statement win for the team and organization than the QB but we had also beaten the juggernaut 49ers on the road the week before as a statement too.

Bryce is no Cam Newton and almost certainly never will be, unfortunately.

With the additions we've made to the offensive skill positions and the investments along the OL I certainly hope third year first overall pick Bryce Young's statement game by whatever definition anyone would describe it happens well before week 12. With the way the upcoming QB class is shaping up we don't need glimpses or teases of elite play anymore. That ship has sailed. That was for year 1 and 2. Now we need consistent high level passing ability and decision making early and often.

Hoping the team is playing well enough to be on the national radar before that. I feel like either that game or the following game (hoping not both) is basically a schedule loss. Playing a Monday night game in Cali then having to play in Charlotte on Sunday seems rough. We’ll get like 2 days of practice/install.

    • Think the "official time" put out was 4.48, but there were a lot of scouts there who of course all had difference times as it's all handed timed by them.  Think I saw it as low as 4.43 and as high as 4.62 or something, but in the end it's all basically the same speed because 40 yard dash is so pointless. Anyone who complains about his speed is just someone who wants a Chase/Jefferson/Nabers style #1 as opposed to an Evans style #1 who isn't going to beat you because of his speed but his other abilities. In the end, he's fast enough for a player his size and surprisingly quicker and more agile than people give him credit for too. The real problem is that Panthers fans can't get our past big WR failures out of their head, they hear "big WR" and automatically see a plodding KB or Jarrett in their minds and assume that's also T-Mac.
    • If you are buying Silver Club, 300 level, try and the buy ones that have the Lot 1 parking pass.  it is steps to the stadium Also, buy on the shade side my PSls used to be section 342, under the overhang.  I didnt care about sun or rain plenty of sites have interactive  maps that can show you   Just know, if they are opposite side of 342, the sun will beat on your head…endzones too.   if, you know for sure that you are going, and you need a hotel room, do it now  you can always cancel … remember, even if the panthers suck,  the national press follows them as do their fans.  Hotel rooms go fast for that game
    • didn't he run like a 4.52?
