Yes a technicaly but what I was looking at was full seasons played, the lightning  won both their cups in shortened covid years..... 10 games less in 19 and 20 and 22 games less in 21 22,  basically the extra post season wear and tear would have only been the equivalent of full regular seasons.

 

It's never been done in a full length 82 game 16 game minimum playoffs format.

Kung foo was right the lightning did win 3 strait ECF but that was during not one but two shortened seasons.

That’s what I was thinking look at the seat map. Thanks to my military moves, I’ve actually not been to a Canes game since game 2 of the 2002 ECF against Toronto. We are finally stationed somewhat close (MD), and my son and I will be driving back up through NC after I pick him up from school in GA this week.

My last Canes game in person was 2002 ECF Game 2. I had just gotten back from my first deployment and spent some of the deployment money on some pretty good seats for that.

That’s awesome.  Last one I went to was the devils game when jussi jokinen tipped it in with a fraction of a second left.  Craziest sports event I’ve ever attended.

Game day folks!!! We made it to a spot where few thought we could get to.  In dominating fashion. Looks like a lot of people are picking Florida. That’s cool.  Tonight is the tone setter. I believe it’s a must win. Freddie and Svech have been awesome.  Let’s see Aho and  Jarvis crank it up. Canes Vs Panthers. Rd 3 Game 1 8pm. LFG Canes!!!

While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them.

Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant) 

This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades. 

While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.

 

I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
