AB had a historically low drop rate across both a single season and a 5 year period (3.2%). Not sure that’s the hill you want to die on when XL was top 3 in the league at 14%. It was his rookie year and he has plenty of room to improve and work at getting better, but I haven’t seen that in the limited TC clips we’ve seen to date

that being said I’ve never heard someone describe AB as a body catcher, that’s a new one to me.

Watch his highlights majority of the time he let the ball get to his body a simple YouTube search will show you instead of needing to hear someone else call him a body catcher   . Not saying XL is AB I’m just saying . Idc how you catch the ball long as you catch it .

The browns Just added Tyler Huntley....

That doesn't scream good QB situation to me they have like 10 bad QBs

Massagerapist

Huntley

Flacco

Picket

Gabriel

Sanders

Having 10 QBs isnt a good thing it means you have none...

Watch Flacco end up their starter

Antonio brown was a body catcher i think he had a fine career . Micheal Irvin even broke it down how sometimes it better to body catch but the huddle gonna cry and whine about anything

Antonio Brown could also create 10 yards of separation through Hall of Fame level route running. XL doesn't have that. Tet won't get open but he will catch the ball away from his body.

Flacco is the starter. That isn't a surprise as it's already been their plan.

The way I see it is that Pickett was picked up as trade bait. You have Watson on an insane contract, and hope to keep him on PUP so he doesn't take up a roster spot. You have Flacco as your starter and then two cheap rookies as back-ups.

It isn't a recipe for success but it's the hole they've dug themselves. They can't get rid of two rookies on 3rd and 5th round contracts with the contract that Watson has, in my opinion.

And honestly, I expect Shedeur to play well tomorrow. I didn't care for him as a person but the utter disdain some people had for him made me check him out more closely, and he seems to be largely a good guy. Says the right things, has been doing the right things, his teammates like him and trust him, etc. It's very similar to how Cam was viewed outside of Carolina.

But playing in a pro style offense in college, and your leading rusher has 300 yards, in 13 games, yet completing 74% of your passes for more than 4,000 yards with 40+ touchdowns, and winning awards, at a P5 school and then going in the 5th round is unheard of. He's at least a second round talent and I'm excited to see what he can do, or rather what Stefanski will call. Don't know if they will call the game to let him let it rip or just force the issue to drive down the field methodically.

If Bryce Young can demand a kings ransom to trade up and get, none of the physical limitations they said that Shedeur had are really limitations at all. It was an excuse.

You missing the point . I’m not saying he on ab level . I’m saying long as he catch the ball idc . A body catch td and a hands catch touchdown both equal 6pts . So when he catch the ball and you still have people complaining it becomes redundant at some point .

It’s because we saw it was a very real problem last year. One game we lost directly, another he indirectly cost us. It’s not sustainable in the NFL to be an only body catcher

Yet, all he has done all off season and training camp is catch the ball....endlessly.

I dont care about your reasoning for the bullshit on a day like this, it's misplaced.

Catching the ball with your body in the NFL is not sustainable. Period. Yes, he caught the ball and had a good day, but that doesn’t fix the root of his problem.. EVERY clip I’ve seen of him this TC has been him cradling the ball with his body. What’s going to happen if the DB is riding XL,s back in tight coverage? Multiple times last year the DB got to the ball before XL because he was waiting for the ball instead of attacking/plucking the ball out of the air with his hands. Watch how TMac and Coker catch the ball. It’s night and day.

Oh, so because of a few TC clips, you're going to continue to bash on him, despite having the best day of any panther receiver.

I'll tell you where to stick your crap.

I'm not disagreeing with body catches, I just simply don't agree that that all he's been doing. But you do you.  I the huddle likes to talk poo, more than it loves facts.

Well comparing a QB and a WR is a lot different. 1st round WR’s are expected to make an impact immediately. Plus, most people didn’t have patience for Young.. Reminder when he was struggling? The pitchforks were out. Only his play on the field changed people’s opinions.  XL was a first round pick. He needs to perform. Plain and simple. No more excuses

Lmfao the average "good"  rookie season for all first round WRs is 700 yards and 5tds....

That includes all high first rounders, while he is a first rounder pretending 32nd is the same same as top ten Is hilarious.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
