Yep, as you can see here, Bryce is starting to throw the out route to XL but realizes he wasn't turning his head for it.

Then the next picture is when he finally turned, but as you can see, he turned the wrong way and is still drifting towards the front corner of the end zone, not to the sideline for the quick out for the first down.

So I think he both ran the wrong route and didn't get his head around in time anyways.

Why we're trying to run that play on 4th down to XL instead of T-Mac will never make any sense to me.  Seems like a classic case of the coaches saying, "they obviously think we're going to T-Mac here, so let's try and fool them and throw it to XL instead and use T-Mac as a decoy."  But sometimes you just have to let your best players make plays, even if they're a rookie and even if the defense knows you're going that way.

It would've still ended up working if Bryce either takes off and runs or makes an accurate throw to Sanders instead of that moon ball he ended up tossing.

correct, when BY looks, the throw isn't there.   Then he can't see as the play develops into a wide open Saunders in front of him for a relatively easy throw.   2 things prevented that TD.  Bryce getting blind/size issue and Bryce giving up and opting to chunk it into the stands as Saunders get in place for an easy score.

What do people think Dave told Bryce after that play?

I'm telling you it's a throw to Sanders, look at his feet and the throw coming out of his hand. I'm 100% positive it was not a throwaway.

If I made that pass and was asked, id just say I made a boneheaded decision and threw it away... Cause otherwise... Yeeesh

I think he’s a good receiver. He’s just not the guy we needed for the QB we have. Square peg meet round hole.

So you’re saying you’d rather have taken a lesser WR or TE because you feel they align better for our awful QB who is likely to be off the team next year as of this moment?

Thats how bad teams stay bad.

Draft the best players, if your current scrubs can’t use them properly, replace them with better players and build a better roster.

T-Mac is the truth, get on board this train or get run over by it.

Perfect pass, perfect catch, negated by penalty. Most frustrating thing to watch yesterday and one that should get better as the season goes on. They did an un-freaking-believable job of passing around the who-will-mess-this-play up baton.

BY has time and executes a nice pass? Penalty. BY has time and a man open? Underthrown. BY has found a rhythm when we desperately need a TD before halftime? XL can't get two feet inbounds (I am still in disbelief at how horrendous that was). WR's getting open? Nijman can't block anybody. BY nice toss to Sanders aka Hands? Dropped.

That was really what it felt. It was like the entire team, Bryce included, were taking turns holding on to the "I will mess this up" stick.

Haven't gotten a chance to sit down and really dig into the all-22 like I've wanted, but I remember that being the impression I had after the first half. I missed the first 10min of the second half snoring in the recliner. T_T

When you do, if you remember, quote this post and show me the play where Bryce got hit as he was trying to launch one to T-Mac.

The announcers were saying he had broken loose and was going to be open, but they never showed the replay, so I’d be very curious what the back end of the play looked like on that one and if he really had an easy TD with another half second of time for Bryce as they made it seem

Saunders still gets wide open in front off Bryce for an easy throw and is staring BY down…..Bryce just gave up looking for a throw and had committed to just sailing into out of bounds by that point though (and Bryce no longer looking to make a real play).

which I suspect is what Dave likely could of said to him that caused that helmet smash.  Good QBs find those throws when things aren't perfectly executed.  That certainly what he is supposed to be for us right now.  But it's still just all the WRs fault for the 3rd year in a row.  Or coaches.  Or OLs.

Here's where you can see his eyes and when things are happening. As already covered, JT0 wasn't looking at Bryce when Bryce looked his way and had TMac's defender starting to come into the window. At the beginning where you believe he sees JT0 open, he's scanning to see if Chuba's underneath.

Chuba also ran a lazy, lazy route here.

Regardless, this is a thread about TMac. There are plenty of other Bryce threads to try and carry your crusade in.

I probably won't have time to do a true breakdown until later in the week, but I can find the play if you can give me the timeframe. I think that might have been in the second half... was it an incompletion to somebody else? I think he went to the right and TMac was left, correct?

Honestly don't remember when it was, but they blitzed a DB who wasn't picked up and he hit Bryce as he was throwing and the ball just fluttered away since he was going deep to T-Mac on the play.

T-Mac was lined up on the left side of the formation and ran a post route I think, but since they never showed the replay other than from behind the QB to show the hit, I'm not 100% sure.

so you are going with just a horrific pass to Saunders?

well, I guess I am less of a Bryce hater than some think.  Because I don't think BY is THAT bad.

We saw Tmac beat his man earlier in the game for a nice vertical throw.  Bryce couldn't make a good throw.  Tmac had to hit the breaks and come to a complete stop.  Became a true contested 50/50 ball that never should of been that.    We thankfully got the PI out of it.

WR vertical downfield with a step on a defender is BY's worst throws.  He underthrows them or leads them out of bounds.

There is no easy TD for BY on those.
