DC has a chance to make a point. Bench XL and start someone else, start Ransom at S, Mays at C etc. That sends the string signal that last week was unacceptable. He won’t, but that is the right move.

Start who?  Brycen?  C'mon now

Renfrow can't start on the outside, so unless you're starting Brycen or a week 1 inactive in Horn Jr, until Coker comes back, XL has to be the starter by default.

Again, this is why you don't trade Thielen, because yes, we had depth before, but depth is only good when you don't lose multiple of your top options, and Thielen and Coker were going to be our #2 and #3 this year, then we lost them 48 hours apart.

And when Coker is back, he's the immediate starter on the outside, which I think can even be good for XL, as he could do well from the slot if you scheme some easy passes across the middle to him to let him then use his speed and strength to make plays with the ball in his hands.

I said that teams will watch the end of season film from last year and catch on to the 'adjustments' that Bryce made in the second half of the season last year.  Rolling out to his right was a big part of it.  Seems the Jags noticed this in film study.

DCs have got a couple of years of Canales' play-calling now to see what he's doing the same between TB & CAR. Most fans without an anti-player agenda understood coming in that this was going to be a season about developing the young guys (something most fans have been clamoring for since the soft reboots started taking place), but the coaches are in the same boat imo. Not only does Evero need to show that last season was an aberration, Canales needs to show that he has an offensive mind that can compete with some of these great defensive coordinators around the league.

I think one of the adjustments for that particular play is going to be having Tremayne (or whoever the WR ends up being) create a contact with the SS before his break to the corner if the CB has outside leverage. I recall seeing the same (or at least a very similar) play drawn up during preseason where XL was breaking open to the corner after getting to the CBs outside shoulder but the ball went elsewhere due to pressure.

Shoot... I think this might be the season that I finally challenge myself to try and figure out which plays/concepts we see most often and when. The last decade of reviewing all-22s after frustrating L's has helped me learn so much more about the game. 😄
