Sobering article on CBA & Draft

Under normal circumstances, if a player that is drafted doesn't sign a contract by the end of the season, that player's contract rights are then put back into the draft and the player is again up for grabs.

So, if there is a complete lock out, no games at all, no season. That means these draft picks will go unsigned. Does that mean that no matter who picks who right now, every player could end up back in the draft come April 2012?

Just a thought, and I'm not sure what the correct answer is there.

For instance, if you’re a fan of the Carolina Panthers, a lockout spells the death of another season for you. If you thought 2-14 was bad, this season is going to be worse, and there’s really nothing that new coach Ron Rivera can do about it.

They assume that we consider being .500 is unusual. No football means no wins or losses. Apparently, they did not pay attention to Mr. Average Fox's tenure here.

At times last year, I'd rather us not played than have to endured the crap that was on the field. Yes, a lockout would suck overall but barely worse than what we witnessed last year. Atleast 2001 was interesting.

If there is a lockout, the players will immediately decertify the union. Once that happens, they have to wait 6 months before they can bring antitrust suits against the NFL,

In short, if there is a lockout, it probably lasts well into september at the earliest. Unless, the owners allow the players to play and let them challenge specific policies in the courts while the season goes on.

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
