Mayock on Gabbert

i have a long post about that saying in another thread about that cliche.

It is a cliche prosecutors use to convey guilt in the absence of conclusive evidence.

Every day people are acquitted from crimes they didn't commit. The reason they were charged was bc of smoke.

Devon Ramsey at UNC was ruled ineligible by the NCAA bc of smoke. He has since been proven to have not committed a violation and has now been reinstated.

It is a poor, poor cliche. No offense Jack :)

Cliche's earn their status as such because they've generally proven true over the course of time.

As a note about Gabbert, maybe this has already been mentioned but:

That still could happen. Gabbert said he spoke with the Panthers, owners of the first pick, Thursday night and that he's ready for any outcome on draft day with the possibility of a trade potentially factoring into the equation if the Panthers aren't interested.

Come on. Cam admitted to the allegations today during the press conference. Problem is the huggers are screaming he is innocent and a victim of a conspiracy BEFORE the cross examinations.

He might have an alibi for every accusation. The teams don't need evidence. When I am picking a watermelon at Food Lion, I thump it, look for soft spots, and if something doesn't feel right, I pick another one. There is no due process.

I have a feeling that Cam is now going to be scrutinized-background checks, interview techniques (lawyer questioning tricks) that check for consistencies. However, they have not gone back to high school to the best of my knowledge. We are only talking about 5 semesters. Not a huge window of time to do all he has done--or was framed to have done.

YAY!! That brings me back to my original point. Let the Panthers do their due diligence and investigate this stuff and sort this stuff out.

I just asked that you respect the process and let them figure this stuff out bc you don't know.

What if your thumping your watermelon and 500 people came up and told you that you were thumping it wrong even though you are an expert watermelon thumper?? You would think you knew what you were doing and they should respect that.

I'm just the guy telling those other guys to let you thump your watermelon and make your own decision since it is going to be your watermelon and you are an expert.

Weirdest analogy ever!!!! So thanks for that :D :D

i've only watched one game and part of another one of gabbert this past season, as well as 5 or 6 highlight videos on youtube from the past 2 seasons. i get that the tools are there, and even the skills. the offense at missouri seems really kind of gimmicky to me. tailor-made for success in college, impossible to implement and get away with it in the NFL. but gabbert just wasn't making it happen in a way that i'd expect from a #1 pick. i can only accept "the system is holding him back, the talent elsewhere on offense is holding him back" so much when talking about the #1 pick. and if you're going to pass up a quarterback at #1 and trade back, i can't imagine you're going to trade back for a quarterback.
