QBs that would cost next to nothing and are better than anything we currently have.

Logical. Still, you see certain guys here and there that you think might buck the odds and might be worth that flier.
My recent ‘crush’ was Rattler and he is hanging in the last time I looked. And was just thrown out there, which I would not have wanted to do with him.

Rattler has wildly exceeded my expectations. I figured he would already be on a PS of a different team by now.

He was a highly ranked high school guy. I think those guys are probably worth keeping track of.
A lot of the failure comes from huge expectations mixed with immaturity. Which I am not saying that was or wasn’t him it’s just a common  thing when you see then not live up to expectations. A lot to deal with at 19 years old.
Some mature late, still have those skills that made them stand out. So many fall through the cracks.

He was another one of those five year guys that didn't really appreciably seem to develop a lot from Year 1 to Year 5. He was a good college player but not great.

Which, in fairness to him, he's been relatively the same guy he was in college. I guess that is the real thing, is it possible for him to actually develop further? That's my criticism of guys like Winston/Howell, they don't appear to have any way to develop.

Right now, he does look on track to have a lengthy backup NFL career and for a 5th round pick, that would be a success in my book.

He is gettin a hell of a chance. Most guys like that never get to play, and you need to play.

If you have been around this board long enough, you realize no matter what player you have, they are rarely good enough until they go somewhere else and then it laments why we let them go.

The cases of players leaving here and then being substantially better elsewhere are fairly minute.

What usually happens is much wailing ans gnashing of teeth that dies very quickly as the stans suddenly realize their player wasn't being held back by the organziation at all.

This is the overwhelming majority of the cases.

I think a lot of people may be missing some things in this post that I was trying to convey.

1) Sure my list isn’t good… but neither are we or our QB room.

2) I believe a bench warmer for two years in NFL with a somewhat avg track record is better than any rookie

3) Cam Ward, Anthony Richardson, CJ Stroud, Michael Penix, Spencer Rattler, etc, etc…. These are not good QBs and their upside is no greater than any of the names I mentioned.  The QBs coming out this year are worse.  Drafting a QB is a crap shoot.  We mortgaged the house for BY and he will never work out with us.  He’s behind one of the best Olines and has serviceable weapons and averages 5.8 and 160 yds.  Don’t draft a QB to start! Don’t do it!  Draft a lineman!

4) Everyone said Jones, Baker, Darnold were washed.  Yall were wrong and you may be wrong about my list.  Next year I’ll bring my receipts!
