QB 2026 (For the Young Haters)

So many haters on Young and while I don't necessarily believe he's the answer at QB, I also don't believe he's not the answer. His lack of deep passes is concerning but I believe a lot of that has to do with Canales.

Anyhow, at our current position we are 16th in the Draft.  Tied with KC on record.  Who at 16 are you going to take at QB?

If you aren't drafting a QB.  Who are you bringing in to compete for the starting QB spot.   Young is going in to camp as the QB1.

Bro, who TF wants to draft a QB at this point?

We took what is ending up to be the best QB in that specific draft since Stroud is trash.

You go get a veteran at this point.

Trade for Burrow put him behind this line.

Yeah Cincinnati is going to trade Burrow.  This isn't fantasy football.  No one in their right mind is going to trade away Burrow.

Be realistic.  You have so many negative takes, but you have no solution.  Just continual hate for a QB that has won his last 4 games IN A ROW.

This. 2026 draft class is weak. And if any team REALLY should have learned its lesson on reaching for a QB in a weak draft class, it's us.

We need to trade for a QB. I'd much rather spend multiple 1st rounders on a proven starter than roll the dice again on a rookie. Because that plan clearly hasn't worked out.

Who? Who is it you're going to trade for?

The last time we gave up multiple 1st round picks it set the team back 3 years. Let's not do that stupid crap again.

You're making my point.  You want this and that but when it comes to making a decision on who you are going to replace Young with, you can't give me a player better.

It's tough to name a worse player. It's pretty impressive that the Panthers were able to find one in Dalton and also have him on the roster. Bryce is ass. Pure and simple. Dalton being even more ass isn't "proof" of anything other than our QB room is super mega ass.

The answer for next year is to sign a decent journeyman vet in FA and keep our options open in the draft.

Totally agree.  Keep our picks. Unless we get lucky and find some super star mid to late round pick.  We're not landing a sure-fire franchise QB.

Canales is going to have to draft and develop someone and sign a FA to hold the reigns until he's ready. Thats our future whether it works out or not.

    • Number 9  Carolina Panthers  Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, produced career highs in completion percentage (63.6%), passing yards per game (188.2) and passing touchdowns (23) in 2025. However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup. • That thread has all the huddle legends either posting in it or mentioned in it. I remember everyone of those folks and I truly miss seeing them post here. This place was so much better with them here.
