Trey Lance 2026

After seeing QBs sit, switch multiple teams, and somehow start balling out, I think we should bring him in if it comesndown to that. He didn't have much experience at all upon entering the league. He'd only be 26, so maybe his best time is now. Why not give it a try?

Absent a really impressive multi game performance by Young, you have to do this or something like it.

Even with a multi game performance you still have to do it. Losing your QB for a 4 game injury could be the end of your playoff aspirations without at least some semblance of a decent backup. If you're trying to compete for any kind of title, you have to bring in someone.

( "Trey Lance is an American football quarterback born on May 9, 2000, known for his time at North Dakota State University (NDSU), where he won two FCS National Championships, and his draft history in the NFL ")

( "After being the No. 3 overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2021, he was later traded to the Dallas Cowboys and currently plays for the Los Angeles Chargers. His collegiate career was highly successful but short, leading to the perception that he would need significant development time to transition to the NFL ")

What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup.

Roll the dice....
