DJ Moore. The quitting WR

They needed like 5-8 yards to kick the game winning FG.  Throwing the ball deep like that was unnecessary and reckless.

The TE was open for that.

I put it on the HC and QB.

You want to get closer than that. I can't blame Caleb too much, but he has to get some amount of criticism for the throw. I will blame Ben Johnson, as Jason Garrett said, you have to be more methodical in your play calling in that situation. Big chunks were too risky. In general, I think that Ben Johnson was too aggressive at times. He and Williams are still trying to figure things out.

Ben Johnson was HORRIBLE in the 2nd half.  The previous drive they had 1st and goal from the 5 and came away with nothing.

Run on 1st, 2nd, 3rd…for 4 yards.  Then forced to throw.  HORRIBLE.

When Caleb threw that Hail Mary I thought he saved the criticism from Johnson.  But the final drive was just as bad.  You can’t let your young gunslinger QB throw that deep pass when you only need a few yards.

He lead DJ too wide and underneath on a crossing route. It was a bad throw. DJ could have shown more effort, but it was only likely to be as a defender on the intercepting player.

That's the dichotomy of Caleb so far. He can make some wow plays and some WTF plays. He is actually lucky his supporting cast is so good or else there would be a lot more WTF plays.

DJ ran a really and I do mean really god awful route.

    • The Texans have done so much to try and surround CJ. They signed Diggs last year. Dell gets hurt so they trade for Kirk this past year. They drafted Higgins (who many had as a 1st rounder) and Noel (many here wanted) and still had Hutchinson The fact is CJ had a pretty easy his rookie season. Clean pockets. Guys running open deep. Slowik was in his bag. Then the wheels fell off. CJ didn’t respond well to Slowik’s hard coaching. Slowik gets canned.  I don’t think there’s been a massive regression I just think things are a lot less easy now and CJ is having to actually think a bit on his own. Which is where the problems begin. CJ has some Sam Darnold to him. He can make every throw with ease but when there’s pressure they tend to do dumb stuff. In 2023 there was a lot less pressure and thinking so CJ balled out much like Sam did in Minnesota or even in Seattle. They’re both very very dependant on coaching/situation
