Having signed Phillips, will they now target a OT for first pick?

TEA LEAVES:

Lloyd, Elliss, and Chenal still available--if we sign one of them, OT will be the pick in the first round.

I think we could sign an ILB in the second round as well, but DT, S, TE, and WR are in play.  (Watch the TE from Vandy--I see him here--in my vision--behind the giant spiders and robots.)

I see a C in round 3 or 4.

Lloyd is waiting for some reason, I want to believe its for giving Dan to make room via restructures and that takes time with all agents/players.

Im not memeing, WR has the highest odds at 19 for BPA....so if you're a pure BPA guy......

CB market reset, value is way up. thus with Jackson a 27 FA and NB a ? currently....I know Panthers will be targeting one. Id place a good cash bet...

Hell I still want edge given Phillips injury history and I feel Jones will be cut too. that just leaves nic and prince, someone needs to help/insurance. But don't mind me....Im a pure edge whore...

Best. Player. AVAILABLE. That to me is the plan especially with a roster needing talent.  T-Mac was that pick last year, he wasnt the need, HOWEVER he was the best. Only a few positions do I really feel they wont look at (QB...MAYBE RB).  I hope they keep that strat because you fix the roster by just putting the most gifted players on your roster regardless of position until youre in a spot where you have a guttony of riches.

I too am an edge whore.  I am also a tight end whore, but I digress...

We have some work to do.

Interesting stuff about WR and CB.  I know they just signed some bottom of the roster CBs--and we forget about UDFA Thornton from last year (injury), but we are thin.

Jones?  He is a veteran who is 27.   He is decent depth, and cutting him creates $5.3m in dead cap and saves about $4.7m in cap room.  You might be right, but I would not cut him.

Cutting Robinson (done already?) saves about $10.5m.  Tremble saves $6m.

I would extend Ickey.   team friendly, but you could spread out the hit.  If he recovers, the Panthers get a deal.  If he does not, he gets a deal and the panthers lose about $5-10m.

Moehrig, Brown, Horn, Lewis--can be reworked if necessary--I dunno. Not as good at cap management as some.

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
