Dream scenario would be for Quinn to slide to us in the 3rd round... would be an absolute steal, so I hope he continues to show poorly. LOL

Yeah for real. I think he has definitely hurt himself today. It'll be interesting to see what his numbers are at the UNC Pro Day. If anything, maybe we can get into the 2nd round to pick him up (which he'll probably still go mid 1st round).

I actually have said multiple times on here that I wanted to trade back and pick up a 2nd. Take offense with the #1 pick, then Marvin Austin with the 2nd... I've been saying it since forever, and now everyone sees why, lol.

I actually had a couple friends on campus last summer talking about how hard Marvin Austin works - it was like the stuff of legend. They say he ran the stadium steps and everything on a regular basis, but I can't remember all of it now, but they talked about him like they were in awe of it.

Sadly, I think he just locked up a mid-1st round pick after today, the dude is a beast.

I was actually hoping Quinn would come in and blow it up and put himself ahead of Bowers b/c I think Bowers isn't gonna be very good. Well, Quinn didn't do that...

After seeing Cam's performance yesterday, I feel the only safe pick at #1 is AJ Green or MAYBE Julio Jones. I don't trust Gabbert either. I would take anyone of those guys a few spots back though, as well as Dareus, Austin, Quinn or Fairley... I just don't want that #1 pick.

This is the mentality that concerns me

Why? This is a win now league, but you also have to think big picture. The QB class is weak this year. Why not draft from the strong positions (DLine), see what Clausen can do this year, and if he tanks...that means we will be in a position to draft Luck (assuming he doesn't pull a Jake Locker).

I don't think Quinn has hurt himself that much. It's just that he didn't blow this thing up like everybody expected. A 4.67 40 is still very very good for a 260+lb man, and DE's don't come off the LOS in a straight line anyway.

The official results actually had Quinn running a 4.70 40... If he would've been solid on both runs at around 4.65, he would've passed Bowers for best DE IMO. He just didn't look very explosive.

That's a big IF. At this point there are about six or so guys I could see being legitimate choices for the new staff.

1) Marcell Dareus: obviously would fill a GAPING hole on our defensive line and if we bring back Charles Johnson he would give CJ a ton of space to wreak havoc.

2) A.J. Green: A freak at the WR position, has Megatron potential.

3) Julio Jones: See A.J. Green. I just am worried about his hands in college.

4) Patrick Peterson: Would give us a potential Revis type shut down corner and a big play threat in the return game that we've been looking for for years.

5) Blaine Gabbert: Depending on how he looks throwing the ball at his pro day this kid really could be an attractive option.

6) Da'Quan Bowers: If we lose Charles Johnson to free agency we will have to address the pash rush and he is IMO the best pass rusher in this draft.

At this point I'm leaning towards Dareus but these other guys should and will be in consideration.....

For sure, I like Peterson, Gabbert, and Dareus for the choice. Gabbert should have thrown yesterday, to be fair. It would be good to impliment that rule.

Yeah, it's a little bit of a concern, but he will be drafted in the 1st round anyway. It's just too hard for teams to pass up a natural pass rusher like Quinn.

FTR, he was always one of the best at UNC's off season conditioning program, so this is not what I expected.

Some were disappointed in his bench wondering why with a year off, that it was not better

    • Hey if they could beat Seattle… tiebreaker head to head over GB, LARms, Seattle… win out the record is 11-6.  Now rap my knuckles for suggesting we win out, but that would be some funny poo. Talk about sneaking up on people.
    • I expected 6 wins this season. I need to see the Panthers blow by that now that they exceeded it by 1. I like how Canales has schemed around the weaknesses on offense in the passing game. I am impressed with the receivers, run blocking, running back combo and secondary communication in zone. Defense and QB need more consistency. The improvement of the defensive play calling and critical 3rd down and 4Q passing when trailing is going to be what I am looking for going into the playoffs. If the Panthers can consistently regain the lead after trailing over the next 4 games, I can see them competing in the playoffs and worth a reevaluation of the last 2 seasons' weaknesses. This is the prove it or lose it moment in their Panthers careers for Young and Evero. No excuses.
    • He's on the smaller size for a center (5'8" 175lbs) and he is a bit of a liability in the faceoff circle. But, he's a proven 60 pt player with room to grow. I'd still rather go get TT from Buffalo. Rossi would be a great consolation prize, though.
