The darnold narrative is making folks lose their mind

Yeah, it's fool's gold. Darnold always had the tools. He just needed a tram with an elite D, a top 5 WR, and a Super Bowl MVP RB to carry him so he wouldn't be asked to press where he becomes a turnover machine. Darnold settled in once he was in a situation where he could just be a very talented game manager. People try to tell themselves Bryce can do that without realizing that Darnold still forces the D to respect the throws he can make that the coaches would rather he not attempt where as Bryce simply doesn't have the physical ability to force that respect opening up other opportunities.

Like Parcells said leading up to the draft that based on his physical tool set "he better walk on water". What he was politely trying to say is that Bryce simply doesn't have an NFL physical tool set.

What’s the context? That we better not let Bryce go because he will be a backup somewhere for a year and then go play .800 ball for two different teams?

People can’t look at the two players and see a difference?

That’s pretty weak. How many analysts endorsed Bryce Young? Almost all. Yeah I am gonna use them to back up my opinion.

And what analysts are those? The ones I listen to say that this is the year to finally get our answer about whether he's the future or not. As a matter of fact I haven't heard anyone endorse him, it's all based in hope for the nice guy.

I am talking about draft analysts. 1-1 comparison. And the easier question to answer would be: which analysts did not endorse the worthiness of Young? It was near unanimous.

After 3 years you still don't know?

Like I said darnold is making people into morons.   For every 1 darnold there are 125 kenny Picketts

geno smith looked great after 10 years of bad. rich Gannon pulled a similar deal, but it is rare.

I feel the problem is they have win NOW. If not draft another, if not draft another, if not draft another until one does. there was a coaching problem too, I member zone read killing in college and no team would let QB do it until Cam torn a hole in it.

There no development for QB, its now or cut. Plus the coaching turn over and personal turn over is just insane. Each year 7-10 HC are fired and 30-50% of the team is replaced. Its crazy to figure out how to win with this, no wonder Reid or mccvay win with all the HC replacing.

Panthers looked on the way with darnold, they were 3-0 and CMC had his classic Carolina injury and off rails the team went.... IF CMC stays healthy, who knows rhule and CMC may still been here with a couple playoff appearances..... Snow was the best DC they had since mccderp....

No, what it says is teams are giving up on QBs way too early. Back when I was coming up QBs generally sat two or three years actually learning the position. You see, FOs and all involved were a lot smarter back then.

On an off note, considering that there's approximately a 50 percent (more or less)  hit rate for QBs in the first round, your math in reference to Darnold and Pickett is way off.

Was it a mistake for the steelers to moWilson? Pickett?    Just and wlson?  Fields and Chicago?
