This was cool

I do think this was really cool. My first reaction was they should give more media access to scouts but then pulled that thought back. If u have more people out there talking the higher the probability something slips that u didn’t want shared.

But I do like the visibility with the guardrails and limitations.  They definitely deserve the recognition.

Don’t remember this happening in previous years, but giving flowers and visibility to scouts involved in drafting certain prospects is awesome

This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.

At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.

So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information.

Pass this on to Tepper.

Seems pretty harmless after the draft. But yeah, I wouldn't want scouts and other folks involved in the process generally unaccustomed to dealing with media questions to be talking about the draft before the draft.

I like it. Now we know who to praise for the picks that work out and who to cuss for the ones that don't. LOL

Well there have plenty of people calling for the heads of the scouts over the last couple of years and I had a hard time with it because I wasn’t sure they even knew how it worked.  I sure didn’t. So getting some insight is good

And as far as that goes I heard nothing in the three I watched that leads me to believe the scouts are making the decisions.

They are vetting and building a database on these guys and in the actual on the clock draft days are probably only called on to pipe up when someone has a question about a player.

Shows me how much teams put into this. These scouts have followed the players for years at this point.
