Drafting a QB #1 is a Smokescreen

no team is going to trade up to number 1 for a QB, and the panthers aren't trying to fool anyone.

the fans and media are drooling over 2-3 QBs in the draft, but the fact of the matter is this draft is deep in quality QBs. so deep that a good one can be picked up as deep as the 3rd round. all of them have question marks, and all of them are projects. so what's the purpose of reaching for one first overall?

quality qbs? yes, there are a lot of QBs who are worth a 2nd-round pick, perhaps a mid-1st...but there is not a single QB in the draft, who is worth a top5-pick, let alone 1st ovr.

and i dont consider a qb-class, who cant come up with a single top-class qb, as deep.

People are killing me with this smokescreen crap. Nobody is trading up to #1 for a player just because the Panthers "talk him up". If they're willing to do what it takes to get to #1, it will be for a player that they evaluated themselves and already liked him a lot, regardless of what the Panthers say.

The Panthers have the freakin #1 pick...they don't have to talk anybody up or down and they don't need to tip their hand on who is #1 on their board. If somebody wants to trade up, they will make the first move.

You are missing the point sir.

It's been explained to you many times. The more you talk about how you don't understand, the more we understand your intellectual capacity.

Just know you are missing the point and stop posting about it.

Regards.

I understand perfectly. The Panthers hold all the cards, and they don't have to show them until the last minute.

Quite frankly, I don't think anybody is going to trade up to #1, in the first place, so none of this matters.

OK then. Explain to me how the Panthers are going to manipulate somebody into trading up to #1 for a player they don't already like anyway.

you're right, no one is going to manipulate any team.. but if I'm a Panther GM, I would find it beneficial to put a few anonymous quotes out there to push an agenda..

it may be ineffective, but it also may tip the scale a bit..

I think you're viewing this "smoke screen" talk much more forceful than intended..

there is no brain washing or manipulation intended.. but pushing and prodding those who may be teetering could prove beneficial..

1. ok, so the panthers have the first pick

2. they want to trade down (assuming for this example)

3. another team really wants a specific player, doesn't matter who it is

4. this player could reasonably be selected before said team picks

5. if the panthers want any chance of getting an offer, they have to at least pretend like they have some interest in picking the player, becuase if they dismiss the player as a possible pick the interested team wont have to worry about panthers taking that player
