Cam "perfect" in combine interview

The same front office that hung on to Jarrett to long and had he not had a DUI, he'd probably still been here,.Foster when he could barely stay healthy and when we was guaranteed atleast one fumble a game? The same front office that got nothing in return for Peppers? Peppers contract and not negotiating a trade for something in return was crippling. Not preparing a QB for years to take over from Delhomme and then paying him the contract he got? Last I checked 2 of the big 3 players from all those decisions are still here.

I not gonna argue against that. Hurney and the Cat do some weird dumb shet in the offseason. I'm just hoping they're starting to come back reality and do shi& right.

If teams are already contacting the Panthers about a trade in private, then why would they need to talk Cam up for the media? If you're right, then the Panthers already have them right where they want them and they don't need to leak anything to the media.

Personally, I believe that some of you are so afraid that they might actually pick Cam Newton, they you will conjur up any scenario that rules it out.

you're assuming teams are contacting them already.. the draft is still over a month away, and teams are still in the process of evaluating these kids..

it's just as likely up until a week away that other teams wait to contact the Panthers about possible trades.. but you're making a lot of assumptions on what teams are doing when we have no idea.

so with that said, it's entirely possible that the Panthers would want to talk up Cam, or any of 5 different players...

and someone talking about why Cam wouldn't be drafted is just as scared as the people talking about why he is drafted...

ER'BODY IS SKERRED!

okay, I doubt anyone is scared.. ;)

Is it just me that does not want to trade down? I'd rather stay at 1 and have the luxury of picking whoever you want. With the new rookie wage scale it's not like there is a big financial burden with the pick.

I'm not assuming anything. Elk is the one who was talking about teams contacting the Panthers already. I'm just saying that the Panthers don't have to say anything at all. As long as there is a possibility that they would take a player that somebody wants really bad, then that team has no choice but to contact the Panthers first because they have the first pick. Therefore, there is no need for the Panthers to leak anything to the press or to put up any smokescreens.

And like I said before, any team that is interested in Cam Newton has already interviewed him themselves anyway, so they already know how he did.

Interesting...
i didn't expect anything less. the guy is going to impress anyone that talks to him.

Nothing but good for Carolina.

agreed.

one thing that puzzles me, why aren't more people hoping that he can be as good as advertised? not just for trade value, but for the panthers?

consider that the guys with the true inside info (that means people that work for teams, not so called experts like mayock and such) might be right htat he is a really special player and that there really isn't anything to worry about as far as his pass mistakes coming back.

if the teams think he's great, why wouldn't you want him? if teams believe that he can reach pretty close to his potential, why wouldn't you want him on your team?

why aren't more people pulling for him to be as good as people think he is and that we take him?

do you hate/dislike/whatever him so much that you do not want him on the team even if he proves to be great for some other team?

why wouldn't you want him to be a great QB and us draft him?

pretty ridiculous, imo.

you guys better be hoping that this team believes in him enough to draft him and that he can reach his potential. i just don't know why you wouldn't.

    • I'm not sure 19 is too high for Rodriguez anymore.  He looks to be moving up boards, but it could be smokescreens.
    • I see XL this way---great athlete.  Good person.  When we drafted him, we knew he was raw.  One year of WR in college (starting) and in HS, he was a QB, I believe. We knew we would need patience with him.  I think year 3 will be make or break.  He is older, and I think that people with his athletic ability have always been better than those with less---but those with less can become more successful.  Why is that?  in my view, it is mental. XL can learn the mechanics and nuances of playing WR if he becomes focused on it and works at it.  I had the opportunity to talk to Armanti Edwards one day after OTAs (great guy) and he discussed how overwhelming it was.  He seemed shocked.  At that time, I knew that Fox hated the pick (I heard him mock Armanti to another coach when he saw Edwards drop a punt from a jugs machine--then I saw Armanti look back at Fox as if to suggest that he was feeling the pressure to please the coach. We forget that these are kids in their early 20s.  At the time, Fox was a lame duck.  Remember when he had Clausen as the #3 QB and was forced to move him up the ladder?  I liked Fox, but I think the climate and culture was influenced by the politics.  Currently, I see another Wr from SC who is struggling, but he is ina  very nurturing, positive culture. Let's see what happens with XL.  I am frustrated too---but XL was a second round talent who was raw and we traded up to get him.  He had 500 yards as a rookie--lets call 2025 a sophomore slump and see if we can't get at least 50 yards per game out of him.  If not, cut bait.
    • Sadiq feels like a lazy comp.  Sure he would be a big improvement over what we have but at a position we don't and maybe can't (midget qb) utilize.  I hope the staff puts together a list of players you automatically take at 19 (Freeling, Lemon, Downs, Faulk) and if none are there, trade back to look at (Thieneman, McNeil-Warren, Proctor, Lomu, Allen, Iheanachor, Banks, Woods).  I get the people that think an OT would be a waste because we temporarily patched that hole, and ILB and safety are a waste because that is high to take those particular positions, but by trading back we get extra picks to fill every need.  A draft that has an OT, S, ILB, slot WR, and C would really put us in a good position moving forward if we get an extra first three rounds additional pick.
