Darin Gantt on 99.9

He somewhat surprised me.

He said, in his opinion, that Cam Newton would go #1, however if they traded the pick, it would be because someone else wanted Cam badly, I.e "Washington".

In his mind, he said these are the two most likely scenarios. From, "guys that lose their jobs if they make bad picks", they say that Nick Fairley will not be the Panthers pick a #1, more likely that it is Dareus, but if it probably wouldnt be at #1.

Also, he thought that PP7 is not likely at #1 because Corners dont go @1 and even Deion went #5.

Made no mention of Gabbert.

To sum, if we pick someone at #1, its going to be Cam, but if we trade, all bets are off and anyone is possible.

Good thing Gantt isn't an NFL GM Because with first overall picks like that he would ruin a franchise

So basically Gantt is saying that we'd pick Cam for the hell of it. That makes no sense just pick a guy you're more comfortable with.

No, thats not really what he is saying.

He is saying we are probably gonna take Cam, unless someone makes an nice offer.

unless cam is the real real deal. if the panthers think he is, then most likely he is, regardless of what you think.

    • 19 isn't high at all really.. Bryce accuracy is actually one of his strong points. I m kinda not understanding your logic at all. By most people's metric Bryce had a good season. He's gonna be the guy this coming season and probably next. Might as well make the most out of it.
    • Well we should be at a crossroads like, about right now. I say show your stuff enough to win us a bunch of games. 17 games I want to see the QB play really well at least 13 or 14 of those games to accept that he is legit going forward. But I don’t get to say.    I am not saying no to a young QB I am just not wanting to do it to prove some point. He needs to be legit as well as far as potential or why are we doing it?
    • My logic is BY can't hit the broad side of barn most the times or even get the ball out. So what's the point of drafting a player that high that won't get the most out of him.  Especially when we still need more on the OL to protect his 5'9" frame
