Cardio...

Recommended Posts

My biggest issue is boredom. My routine now is running a 5k on the treadmill then 10 minutes of biking. 40 minutes total is about all I can take of cardio mentally.

Two hours? Sounds like a nightmare.

I run outside whenever I can. running on the treadmill all the time I'd be bored as poo too.

I can't do talk radio when I run. I need a beat to sync my stride or heart-rate to and take my mind off the workout. When I listen to talk radio I start thinking, and when I start thinking, I start thinking about how tired I am and how much I want to stop, and how "Oh, I'll just go up to that light pole and the walk for a while."

So no talk radio for me.

Interesting.

I've never had a problem with thinking.

*I put it on the tee gentlemen.......*

I try to do from 20-40 mins of cardio 3 x a week. But I can get bored in a flash. So that's why I have to play sports. Object oriented exercise.

As it gets warmer, I want to rotate Sat's of outdoor stuff. Mtn biking, rock climbing, kayaking etc. So at least one Sat a month from March to Nov I'm adventure dude.

The other Sat's I rotate between hoops and soccer just to keep things fresh and it's great for building new friendships.

I'm thinking of going extreme and deal drugs again so I can be chased by rival gangs or th cops. But i dunno

Usually do some cardio pre-workout, ill hop on a bike for 10 minutes just to get the blood flowing, then run a couple miles on a treadmill.

In a couple weeks I'm starting HIIT (High intensity interval training), where one jogs at a comfortable pace for a couple minutes and sprints for 30 seconds or so, then goes back to jogging. Changing the heart rate constantly burns fat the quickest. It's brutal but easily the best way to shed weight fast. If you have access to a track, thats usually the best for HIIT, sprint on the straight away for 100 meters or so.

Music choice is crucial, I hate being able to hear myself breathe heavy. Lately I've been listening to strictly house/techno/electronic dance music while I run and lift weights. There's a Swedish house producer by the name Avicii who is excellent. I prefer house and techno because sometimes you can have 2 hour mixes that constantly play and I never find myself changing the song as I did with other genres.

I do HIIT as well. It's tough but it works like mofo. I dropped 10 pounds in 2 weeks doing that stuff. It doesn't take a lot of time and you can do it on a punching bag or even in a swimming pool.

HIIT is much better for fat loss. Don't take anyone's word for it, you can look it up just as easily for yourself, but it's also quite logical - it's just normal cardio with intense intervals that speeds up energy consumption and fat loss. The only problem is that it's intense and not a whole lot of people can stick with it.

Where do you do this at home?

When I'm in the gym, I usually do 20 minutes of walking, 1 hour or so of lifting, following by two or three weight based cardio exercises, step ups, etc.

I probably should do more cardio than I do... one more week (after a trip to the asthma doc) and I'm back in the gym after this damn shoulder ordeal.

I do one hour of Walking, followed by 20 minutes of lifting. :)

Plus a lot of swimming in the summer.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
