Top two reason stupid people WANt us to draft Newton

Mr. Burgundy

Here I'll do it for you:

1) He's black and you like black people (this is a joke based on a large faction of the anti-cam or "you're a cam fan" movement)

2) He presents enormous potential and our fanbase is scared to succeed if he pans out. They'd much rather waste picks on safe, non-impact players.

Or at least that's what I've gathered.

1. He stole from teammates lockers

2. He cheated, even after being caught

3. He just doesn't learn from mistakes, see driving history

4. Comes from a one read offense

5. Sporatic accuracy at best

6. No QB in this class is worth #1 overall

7. I, in my unqualified opinion, think he's immature and not ready to lead

Why do I always agree with you?

There is an "if" in there. And unlike a majority of this board, I don't need power in numbers to generate brain power. I think for myself.

So the ones who prefer another option are too scared to succeed, but only IF he pans out? I dont get it. What does that really mean? Just sounds like KT got in ya in a bit.

It's called pandering to an audience. I was stoking the fire because the board is so engulfed in Cam debate.

But overall, my premise is that our fan base is "okay" with being "okay." I've went over this a million times before but, the point is - what is our biggest position of need? QB. Of the other needs on the team, they can be much easier addressed in FA than QB can, or later in the draft. Simply put, QB is the biggest risk-reward position we can draft. And it's worth taking that risk to get a huge reward if it does pan out.

I think Dalton could end up shocking everyone and perform the best in a shorter amount of time. But, again, Cam has the biggest upside.

1) Character concerns...pfft...what character concerns?

2) Payton Manning + LaDainian Tomlinson all rolled into one

3) The best QB prospect of this draft? No, the best QB prospect...ever!!

4) Franchise QB...entertainer...icon...role model...I hear he can even do your taxes!!

Can't wait to draft the guy, what's that Cinci/Arizona.. you want to give us your 2nd round pick to trade up for him? Welp that'd be dumb of us since he's so awesome but hur dee durr we don't know what we're doing, we accept.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
