Hurney, only Clausen supporter on the Staff

Recommended Posts

GM Marty Hurney is reportedly the only member of the Panthers' front office or coaching staff still maintaining faith in Jimmy Clausen as a potential starter.

According to SI.com's Don Banks, "everyone else in Carolina, and many coaches and personnel men around the league for that matter" believe the Panthers desperately need to find a new quarterback. Hurney's head should be on the chopping block if he's forced to draft a QB at No. 1 overall. He's essentially wasted two second-round picks, having traded this year's to move up for Armanti Edwards last April.

fug Hurney. His head should be on the chopping block for not bringing in any Free Agent talent worth a damn for two years, the Jake Delhomme huge contract fiasco, the Franchising Peppers when we could have traded him fiasco, the Clausen bust, the AE fiasco, the potential Brown bust, the Dwayne Jarrett bust, the Ken Lucas bust... I could keep going...

He's been making big misteps for a few years now. It all just finally bit us in the ass last year.

I was actually a little disappointed he didn't go with Fox. If Rivera wants to make a name for himself, he's going to have to rattle Hurney's cage and by-pass him to get what he wants to make us a winning team again.

Can't really blame Hurney for not singing a FA when the owner would'nt allow it

we should probably hold off on bashing Hurney until the DeAngelo, Johnson, etc. scenarios have been resolved.......b/c we might take it too easy on him.

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
