First it was PRIDE, then the WEC. Now add Strikeforce to the list.

UFC president Dana White today announced in an interview with MMA Fighting that Zuffa, LLC, the parent company for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has purchased Strikeforce.

Terms of the purchase were not immediately disclosed, but White characterized the franchise as "a good deal."

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the deal Saturday morning, though request for comments by both UFC and Strikeforce officials went unanswered.

White said under the terms of the purchase, Strikeforce talent will remain on the promotion's roster for the time being, though UFC fighters could potentially make their way into the organization.

Is there anything MMA that Dana doesn't own at this point?

From the article...

UFC boss says organizations to operate independently

Sure they will, just like Pride did, unless Dana changes his mind :sosp:

Won't be surprised if Strikeforce ends up as UFC's "minor league"

I agree that I dont see Strikeforce being around for long. Pride was a bigger name than Strikeforce and Dana swept it under the rug bringing all the big names ober to the UFC that had a contract. My guess is that Dana knows Strikeforce must honor their contracts with Showtime, then everyone comes over to the UFC. Lets go ahead and book these fights Dana:

Fedor vs Randy

Overeem vs Cain

GSP vs Diaz

I dont think its looking so good for Barnett and Paul Daley. I guess everyone could go fight in Japan but that country is in a big hurt now.

Yeah it'll be about two years before they come over. By then Fedor won't be relevant.

Mr. Scot, Dana doesn't own Bellator

True there is still Dream and Bellator but Dana doesnt need to buy them.

I wish someone in Japan would buy Dream and start throwing money at the UFC guys.

No way Dana waits 2yrs to bring over Fedor or Overeem. Dana knows what the fans want and thus the money. I'd say he lets the Strikeforce Heaveyweight tourney run its course then that guy fights the UFC champ.

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
