Do you trade back into the 2nd round?

Recommended Posts

Our 3rd (not the comp) and our 4th would get us up to around #52-55. Players available in that range would be...

Stephen Paea DT OSU (maybe)

Marvin Austin DT UNC

Titus Young WR BSU

Gregg Little WR UNC

Marcus Gannon G TCU

Danny Watkins G Baylor

Curtis Brown CB Texas

Ras-I Dowling CB Virginia

The question is does anybody think any of those players would be worth our 3rd and 4th? IMO Paea would but I doubt he actually lasts that long.

gotta stop mortgaging future picks to move up. How does New England feel about their giving up a third for our 2nd round pick this year? They're feeling pretty good about it...dang it.

They have proven to be the best at making such deals. I could actually see them trade away 1 or 2 firsts this year to stockpile a boatload of firsts next year to go after Tom Brady's successor.

Couldn't agree more. It's not like we are going to the big dance this year.

Look for opportunities to take advantage of someone with a "win now" mentality, and reap the benefits down the road.

would rather trade our 3rd round pick this year for a 2nd rounder next year

for once I'd like the Panthers to be the team fooling others in the draft :(

Yes! I would like to trade down and get multiples, but if we trade 3rd, I'd rather have higher pick next year. Probably better talent available then.

If we don't trade down from #1, I REALLY hope we don't trade next year's 1st to get into the 2nd this year...we could easily be giving up a top 5 or top 10 pick...I'd be ok with trading next year's 2nd and this year's 3rd for a high 2nd if there's someone there Hurnivera really want, but NOT next year's 1st. I don't care if we were given two seconds and a third this year for it, DO NOT TRADE NEXT YEAR'S FIRST!! It's a vicious cycle.

If we can grab a guy like Marvin Austin or Greg Little (yes, I'm a UNC homer) then I think it would be worth trading back up into the 2nd round.

I think Marvin Austin might end up being the 2nd best DT to come out of this class behind Dareus.

You can't use a comp pick for trading first off.

And the only way I'd consider if is if you'd think you could get a Marvin Austin in the late 2nd....but if it's not panning out...wait and get Greg Little to see if he falls. Otherwise...take BPA.
