Meril Hoge on Blaine Gabbert

Stupid Comments by Hodge here, Does Gabbert have issues. Of course he does, but so do all QB's coming into the draft. There's always question marks about if a player can make the transition from college ball to the NFL.

I watched the whole video and get where Hodge is coming from in regards to Gabbert. His comment saying that QB's aren't worth taking in the first 20 picks no matter what is just absurd, if you ask me.

QB is becoming the most important position on a NFL team, how can you saw that QB's aren't worth taking in the top 20 with the current landscape of the NFL.

????

Also in regards to Gabbert coming out of no where, he's always been considered a top end Prospect. He's been one of the top QB prospects since he was in Highschool. He was considered a top 10 pick earlier this year, even before Luck withdrew from the NFL draft.

I would feel much better about drafting Gabbert if I knew for SURE that we could sit him his ENTIRE rookie season. His game is too raw to throw him into the fire early. Same as was with Clausen.....but that's another story.

Not taking a QB in the first 20 picks is about the dumbest thing that I have ever heard of. A good QB can take you from 1-3 wins to 8 in one season. They are by far the most important person on the team, including GM's and Coaches.

If you have the chance to take a kid coming out of college that looks like a Manning, Rivers, Rodgers, etc... you take them every time, and give up some picks if you have to to get to them.

That being said, I don't agree with us taking either of the top rated QB's this year.

Neither appear to me "franchise" material.

I've never thought Merrill had anything to contribute other than "factor backs." I tend to agree with him on this one, though. Not crazy about Gabbert
