Question for those who don't wanna draft a QB

I'm conflicted. I refuse to let the homer in me that loves Gabbert surpass the realist in me that knows we would likely have a better football team if we took a Dareus or a Peterson or possibly even a Green, unless Gabbert really explodes here. Which, of course, is possible. I do think he can be the guy some place. I just think he needs to sit a year, and I don't know that he will get that chance here. Rivera will have a lot of pressure to get some games won right away.

Anyway, you can't draft this year expecting to have certain options available next year. Sure, I think we may have a chance to land a better rookie in the future, but i've decided we can't plan on that. Every year, it seems like the next QB class will be stacked, and something changes that.

Scot:

Gabbert could potentially and its totally worth the risk imo

It works out sometimes, and others you get Alex Smith or JaWalrus

That's what it comes down to. You're not willing to take the risk with the top pick on a QB in a weaker than usual QB class, which makes sense. And its no question we are getting a FA QB or possibly someone through a trade. Whether we draft a QB or not, Clausen and a vet will be on this team.

In the end I'm open to all possibilities. I want to see the positives in all of these kids. Therefore, I'm not going to be disappointed instead excited in the end rather than pretend to support a guy I never wanted to begin with.

Oh, I won't pretend. I'm way too old and cranky for that.

If they're picked, I'll legitimately hope for all the world that the team is right and I'm wrong.

I have been wrong in the past. But sadly, so have the Panthers :(

You could argue that Moore is the best QB out of the 2007 draft class

Could this be another class like that

And then you would lose all credibility by trying to argue that Moore is better than Kevin Kolb. And hopefully whomever you were arguing with kicked you in the nuts.

Very well could depending on where the QBs go...

But I get the feeling that one of the later round guys is going to surprise and I think one of the early guys will do well if they land in the right place (not Cincy)

Kolb's looked good at times but awful at others. Not sold on him at all. Pretty sure Moore's numbers are better in some cases and he may even have a better W/L ratio...

Really?

Kolb might be better but it's very close. Considering what each has done with their circumstances, I think Moore is the better QB but the grass is always greener so whatever you say

there's certainly an argument to be made there that Moore has done better. It may turn out that Kolb is the better QB in the long run but honestly right now I don't think he looks all that much better. I've seen a couple great games from him and some real big stinkers too... and it looks like his limited play time has been full of that

Not that Philly will get a first rounder for Kolb, but that is what they are currently asking for. Now imagine the responses to headline "Panthers request 1st round draft pick compensation for Matt Moore"
